Description of 1970 Jaguar E-Type XKE |
1970 Jaguar XKE Series 2 OTS (Convertible)
Opportunity of a lifetime to procure this excellent driving Jaguar XKE S2 OTS from a caring private owner/mechanical engineer. I have owned this car since 1999. The car was purchased from BRITE Voice Company in Orlando FL. The car was sourced by the CEO and Jag enthusiast for use in an advertisement campaign to prove Brite’s Voice recognition software could even work in a convertible. It was stored for many years inside a Class-A office building conference room prior to my acquisition. The car had virtually no rust except small rocker panel spots aft of the front wheel (Fixed - see pic). This was fixed immediately in 1999 and the car as never seen an accident and is always garaged.
This is a car to drive whilst maintaining show car potential. I searched for many years to find this car. It is a clean S2 with the right options (a/c, s, onvertible, ardi steering wheel, ritish racing green (original willow green) and tan (biscuit) interior!!) The series II has the upgraded cooling system with dual electric fans and bigger calipers over the series 1. While not as pure as the Series I cars, eries II cars are more user-friendly with options on this car like power steering and A/C (Blows very COLD with upgraded compressor but original compressor in a box).
Here is most of what has been accomplished to the car over my ownership:
Engine rebuilt by the very competent Erwin Schwartz ( http://www.schwarzltd.com/ ) 30 over, pecial pistons, ard setted values (can use unleaded) New Clutch~ 5,000 miles on rebuilt motor/clutch New fuel lines, as tank and filters Rebuilt carbs Reworked brakes Engine bay painted in industrial grade PPG paint (resists even hydraulic fluid) New radiator Fan shroud repainted in correct crinkle black Rust in lower panels cut out and welded replacement metal (see picture) THIS IS IMPORTANT - Correct Pirelli tires. New ignition, oses, eat shield, mall stuff, tc.
The car’s paint and interior is decent. There is some paint cracking on bonnet nose (no rust or putty). A chip and nick here and there. There is a small tear in the top. The emergency brake is weak. Nothing to serious. This is a great driving car and the ultimate classic. There were only 7,852 S2 LHD OTS (Convertibles) built between 1968-1971. Not sure how many are left out there but I can testify this machine is reliable and a pleasure to drive. It is automotive art and the ultimate sports car classic.
I am a serious seller please don’t waste anyone’s time. The car is located in my Garage in St Louis, o (Ladue). Please feel free to inspect car and/or ask questions.
