Description of 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III

I am selling my father in law's 1974 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series III. Having acquired it from the original owner in 1978, he is just the second owner and has lovingly driven it and maintained it over the past 38 years. It has just 59,3XX original miles. It is mostly driven on sunny Sundays in summer on quiet country roads.
This is a real car with the bona fide patina of an aged wine, not some fancy-schmancyrestoration or a slick re-do.
It is entirely original except for an updated digital ignition and a now mature 1980 paint job by Brian Dowling, who was New York's pre-emininent Jaguar craftsman.
The manual four speed transmission will let you sprint off the start if you want and the air conditioning still works blowing cold on muggy summer days.
It includes power steering, power brakes and a rare black factory hardtop and standard soft top. The window of the soft top needs a new plastic window. My father in law never replaced it since he only drives it when it's sunny. But you might want to. There is theoriginal Dunlop spare tire. But it needs to be replaced. The carburetors were completely rebuilt a few years ago. Better to hear the purr of this cat. There's a noticeable scratch near the gas fill cap. The brakes and calipers are new.
It's been garaged its whole life and you can tell. The paint and brightwork look great. The leather is in great shape. Show quality? I don't know. But it looks darn good to me. There's somerust on the original chrome wire wheels that only adds to its provenance. But there's no rust anywhere else. It is a beautiful car to behold, to sit in, and to drive.
It drives really well, and they'll know you're coming with its indescribable Jaguar purr. Car enthusiasts say every oneshould own a Jaguar. But few are lucky enough, like my father in law has been, to own one for 38 years. Maybe you will be too.
Buy it now and enjoy it all summer... Good luck!
