Description of 1970 Jaguar E-Type XKE |
1970 Jaguar 2+2 E-type/Xke This is my dream car project that is almost finished, a 1969 coupe series 2 that I have converted to a series 1 1/2 with covered headlights (NOT FOR SALE). However, the tub and bonnet that I am selling was someone else's dream car until it got TOO HOT to handle, due to an interior fire that appears to have started in the back of the car sometime after 2005 (SEE PICTURE 3 from 2005, showing the car in its RESTORED BEAUTY). Post-fire the car was dismantled, sand blasted, and mostly put into primer (under body is not in primer as shown in some of the pictures). Then the car was put into dry storage. This would be a great donor tub and bonnet if you have a rusty 2+2. Maybe this tub and bonnet can be part of your dream car! I took pictures before I touched-up the newly primed spots. This tub is 99% rust-free. The pictures show the rust spots: two are in the end-shut panels in the front of each tire wheel well and the other is on the driver's side left foot well area (pin holes). The bonnet has surface rust only. The left quarter panel has some small dents that can be easily fixed. The fire was interior only. The roof has very minor heat damage, about one foot above the rear hatch area. A skim-coat would easily fix this. The doors are very solid and have not been sandblasted. The picture of the bottom of the doors show that there is no rust. Any rust that you see on the inside of the tub is surface rust only. I have many more pictures that I can send upon request. The car comes with an clear Arkansas title. The winning bidder will need to arrange shipping. I am retired and my schedule is flexible for help with loading. There is a non-refundable $500.00 deposit due within 24 hours of auction close. The balance must be paid in full within seven days of the auction close. The care is sold "As Is" with no warranty. Please do not bid if you do not intend to buy.Thank you for your interest and happy bidding! 706-816-1608 Thank you,Jeff |
