Description of 1970 Jaguar E-Type XKE Series 2 Roadster |
MotorCarTrader.comEmail: marc@motorcartrader.com Phone: 980.216.8550 1970 Jaguar E-type Series 2 Roadster Legend has it that when it went on display for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961, none other than Enzo Ferrari remarked that the E-type (known as the “XKE†in the U.S.) was the most beautiful car he’d ever seen. Mr. Ferrari knew a pretty car when he saw one and he might have been one of the first to express the sentiment, but an incalculable number of others have said virtually the same thing and they’re still saying it fifty years later. Designed by a noted aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer, the E-type was meant to cheat the wind, but its glass covered headlights, long hood, short rear deck and compound curves also coincidentally looked great. With a 0-60 time of around seven seconds and a 150-mph top speed, the Series I E-type was near the top of the early 1960s food chain and was indeed quicker than numerous sports cars with a much higher price tag. A 2+2 coupe was added to the coupe and convertible body styles in 1966, and the 2+2 was the first E-type to be available with an automatic transmission. Parts are easy to find and not terribly expensive for any version of the E-type. We are pleased to offer another beautiful Jaguar E-type. This stunning 1970 Jaguar E-type Series 2 Roadster was built on October 31, 1969. It was dispatched on November 18, 1969. This was previously refinished in the original color of Silver Grey at around 56,000 miles and interior was recently redone in black with all new carpets and upholstery. This XKE currently has 57,063 original miles and is a matching numbers Jaguar E-type as per the Jaguar Heritage Certificate. The previous owner had this car for 14 years. Some of the upgrades and work that been completed recently are as follows: • Upgraded and expensive triple SU carburetor conversion installed. This car is a great driver that is ready to be driven. The gearbox is silky smooth and the clutch feels nice and tight with no slippage. Furthermore, the engine is strong with good power as the triple carburetors provide for a bit more. The interior seats are very comfortable and supportive. Overall, this Jaguar is an absolute blast to drive for anyone who is looking for Jaguar E-type to actually enjoy as a wonderful driver/show type of car.
