Description of 1976 Jaguar XJ12 |
The Coupe version of the Jaguar XJ was first shown in 1973 at the International Auto Show and was intended to be a more sporting version of the XJ saloon. the XJC shared a complete chassis and wheel base with the short wheelbase version of the Jaguar XJ, but sported an all new roof design and extended saloon doors. Production did not start for another two years in 1975. and only continued until 1977. Throughout its entire run only 10,426 XJ coupes were produced, with only 1,855 being XJ12C Models. This makes the XJ Coupe the rarest production Jaguar ever to be made. Presented here is a beautiful example of the rare XJ12C. It is sporting a beige of tan color combo which suits the design language of the XJC very well. The paint on the car is fairly fresh and still in excellent condition. There is little to no damage to the paint throughout the car. All the brightwork shows no pitting and has excellent overall fitment. Notice this car has paint extending all the way up the roof panel without the vinyl covering, a much more attractive style. Inside the car is a very nice place to be. Freshly reupholstered seats appear to have never been sat in, the foam is still firm and the leather is immaculate. The rest of the interior is largely original with it having held up very well over the years. A 5.3 liter V-12 resides under the hood, starting up with easy at the turn of the key. These engines are known for how smooth they run, and this one is no exception. This XJ12C has loads of torque from the bottom end, having no problem accelerating this fairly heavy car at a respectable pace. The Borg-Warner gearbox shifts into gear with no drama, and shifts briskly and smoothly as the RPMs climb. The ride in this car is supple, giving the operator the ability to cover long distances in comfort and speed. The engine bay has been kept up quite nicely over the years, with little to no damaged rubber under the hood. It appears that someone has either cleaned and maintained under this hood for the cars whole life or it has been faithfully restored with new rubber components. Most recently the fuel system has been completely gone through. The injectors have been flow tested and cleaned and fuel injection harness has been replaced, as well as the fuel filter.
