Description of 1970 Jeep Commando

Selling my project as I just have too many. I purchased this Jeep after installing the engine for a customer who ended up over his head in it. I bought it because the body was so clean and straight, or its age. I knew it would be relatively easy to repaint and run it. Basically this is a great start to an awesome project. The customer that supplied the 5.3L motor and 4L60E transmission told me that they had 100,000 miles on them. There is nodocumentationof that. In the video you can see that the engine runs well but has a bit of a hick-up. Iattributethat to OLD gas andpossibly needing plugs and wires. The batter is dead and must be jumped to start it. The inline, rame mounted fuel pump is 1 week old, s the old oneseizedup. I have had the jeep sitting under cover for almost 2 years now.My plans were to turn it into a go fast rock crawler. I was planning on swapping out the axles and the frame to an LJ frame for more strength. This frame is straight as far as I can tell though so it should be okay to use. The axles are stock Dana 27(?) front and dana 44 with two piece shafts.
The engine harness was professionally cut down and a new tune was put on the ECU. You may want extra tuning down the road. The chassis has a new Painless harness. The two harnesses have been tied together and work well .The video shows extra wires hanging around the steeringcolumn. These are all the extra circuits that the jeep doesn't use, uch as power windows. They just need to be removed or used. The fuse block mounts up under the dash in a nice spot, oesn't just hang there as in the video. The extra wires zip tied in the engine bay are for park lights and turn signals. The DJ grill used did not have those lights in the grill.
The front floor boards appear to have been covered with sheet metal, s they are flat, ut from the underside you can see the rolls in the board. This is in the video. The floorboards now are discolored, ut are in fine shape.

Goes flat after about 2 weeks. The others hold air, ut they are all in pretty bad shape.Tail gate latch is broken.Driver door wont latch shut. All the parts are there though.Needs door locks.
Has TJ seats and new upholstery to refinish them. Along with the driver seat in the video. The Passenger side seat in the video is mine. Just put it in there to give my kids rides up and down our street. Has LOTS of random new and used parts. Chrome emblems and original Commando parts, ftermarket shocks, ct.
Overall I give it a 7-8 out of 10. I've been around LOTS of jeeps and this is a good one. Don't know if I would want to restore it to original, ut that's not my kind of build anyways, ut the tub and top are in good enough shape that it wouldn't be too bad to do so. Obviously the front end would need to be replaced. The DJ grill and good were used to make enough room for the radiator and engine with out having to cut out the firewall to fit it all. Works great!
While this jeep does run and drive it is not road worthy at this time.
