Description of 1979 Jeep CJ |
1979 JEEP CJ-5 ~Final year for factory V8~2000 miles average per year~Has been in storage for the last 30 years~California Barn find out of a 300 Car collection~You or I cannot duplicate this one of a kind CJ5they are only original onceNO RESERVE When it comes to vintage automobiles, California and the West Coast of the United States have always been the most desirable the world over for many reasons; the mild climate and the fact that many automotive trends started in California. The automobile is the perfect technological symbol of American culture, a tangible expression of our quest to level space, time, and class and a reflection of our relentless mobility, social and otherwise. You see automobiles advertised the world over described as California cars because at some point they were in California or drove through California. A true California car is one that was sold new in California and titled in California, one that has the original plates that are on that title is a true California car.We are liquidating a collection of 300 actual California cars. This is a collection that took 70 years to comprise. This 1979 Jeep CJ-5 is an original California time capsule that has spent the last 30 years in storage and is part of a 300 car private collection that is being liquidated. The car is finished in it's original Sable Brownand Brown vinyl interior that it left Jeeps Toledo Ohio assembly plant and was brought to the Golden State over 40 years ago. This Jeep has been sealed away in a time warp for at least 30 years. This was the final year of production for the optional factory 5liter304 V8 mated to a heavy duty Borg Warner T-150 three speed transmission through a Dana 20 transfer case with a full-floating Dana-30 front axle and model-20 rear axle. Both front and rear axles were solid and suspended with leaf springs. With improved power steering and with power front disc brakes with larger 11-inch rear drum brakes this 1979 V8 Jeep CJ5 is a water mark vehicle for this American classic The CJ5 Jeep has the distinct honor of having the longestproductionrun (1955-1984) of any vehicle starting with the 4 cylinder Hurricane F-head then in 1965 brought the Dauntless V-6 then in 1972-1979 the V8 was offered as an optionfrom the factory whichupgradedthe power to weight ratio to a level comparable to a V8 muscle-car. Other drive-train changes included a new front axle-full floating, open-knuckle Dana 30, which was both 25 lbs lighter and reduced the turning circle by 6ft.The lions share of all CJ5's had the 4.0 liter258 ci inline 6 cylinder very few were ordered with the optionalfactory V8. So common sense would dictate that few V8 CJ5's are left in this kind of original condition? Mechanically:The 5.0L 304 V8 fires up and runs as a low mile hardly used engine should, it was stored with out fuel the carburetorwas removed and serviced, no visiblefluidleaksit runs very well with no known issues. Exterior:The exterior of this Jeep isconsistentwith a vehicle that has been stored indoors in a mild climate for the last 3 decades. The paint is original and shines very nicely The stripes are shiney and don't show signs of fatigue or peeling. The only negative is a small bubble in the lower passenger fender visible in the pictures. The body floor boards are all very solid as well as the rest of the body. Interior: The interior of this Jeep is in fantastic shape and shows no signs of any abuse let alone use. All the gauges look great as well as the paint matching the conditionof the exterior. The Front and rear seats are in great shape with no rips or tears. The removable carpet is also in great shape with no signs of heavy use.NO RESERVE THIS JEEP WILL SELL TO THE FINAL BIDDER
