Thanks for coming to check out my auction. I specialize in classic 4x4s including Land Rover. Land Cruiser. nbsp;IH Scout. Suzuki Samurai & Bronco. Be sure to check out all my vehicles at: picasaweb. google. com/oldcargeek You are looking at an all original. un-molested 1982 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler with the pickup style half-cab top. Full-length tops are also available for these rigs. so you have the versatility of a convertible roadster with doors removed & windshield folded down. a pickup truck. or a full SUV style wagon. As you can see. the paint is baked off on one side (it sat 30 feet away from a barn that recently burned down). and the fender flares & side marker lights melted as well. There are some rust holes in the body as is very typical of these vehicles. but the frame & body mounts are super solid which is rare! CJ-8s were built in very limited production numbers. and feature fully-boxed frames unlike the CJ-5 and 7's. This one has the 4. 2 liter inline 6-cylinder engine which has been rebuilt in the not too distant past. and runs excellently. It has LOADS of low-end torque. and thanks to a 4-speed manual transmission. and 2:73 gears. actually gets really good fuel-economy for something that has the aerodynamics of a brick wall! It has the power of a small block V8. and will spin the tires on dry pavement. no problem! There is a new steering sabilizer. and all of the suspension joints & bushings have recently been replaced (I have receipts). This model has manual brakes. but power steering which is nice with the wide tires. and for parallel parking. The windshield is cracked but is just a flat panel of glass. and inexpensive to replace at any glass shop. The taillight housings also parially melted. but everything still works. Headlights. taillights. turn signals (but you have to cancel them manually). brake lights. wiper. heater fan blower motor. etc. The fuel tank is brand new. and an exended capacity plastic model with a brand new sending unit as well. The factory gauges all work. Speedometer is 5mph off due to taller-than-stock 33 inch tires. Supension is stock and un-lifted though. and the tires do not rub whatsoever. I just completely rebuilt the carburetor. and it functions flawlessly now. Also replaced all of the vaccuum lines because it ran poorly when I first obtained it. and there is a brand new starer-solonoid. The rubber door seal on the driver's side is worn thin. so there's air-leaks there when running down the highway. When this engine was rebuilt. they must've bored it out or something. because most Scramblers had trouble maintaining 55mph. but this one will effortlessly go interstate speeds! The long wheelbase makes it more stabile than the old Jeep CJ-5s and 7s. It steers and handles decently. and even has factory disc brakes in the front! Please note. I intend to remove the roll bar for another Jeep project before this auction is over. so if it is still there. consider it a bonus. This vehicle is currently licensed. tagged & insurred.
