Description of 1989 Jeep Cherokee PIONEER |
Vehicle Details This 1989 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer is a fun classic SUV. That's because beneath the vintage body lines is a loaded A/C interior, fuel-injected power, and a proper 4x4 suspension. So it's the vintage vehicle that still knows how to be first to the campsite and get there in comfort. Spinnaker Blue Metallic is the name of the factory-correct paint, and in fact, this is believed to be the factory application. (Some areas may have been touched up, unsure!) It strikes the right balance of a clean and complete presentation that also has some touches of use. It gives this SUV the look of decades of earned respect. That's also because the panels look good and align well. The optional alloy wheels, silver pinstripe, roof rack, and color-matched flared fenders are all part of the classic premium details that make this preserved Cherokee even more impressive. The reason why I love this generation Cherokee is that it came from the era when Jeep still had the CJ and full-size J-series trucks. So the XJ Cherokee gave you plenty of comfort while still carrying a legendary attitude. That robustness is felt in the grip of the three-spoke steering wheel and the hefty action of the transfer case. But this is also the Jeep that knew how to take road trips. That's why you have high-back bucket seats, an armrest center console, and a tilt steering column. This one even has desirable extras you don't often find like power windows (motor a little slow), power locks (ineffective), and cool-blowing AC. Plus, real rear seat space and plenty of cargo room keep the Cherokee exceptionally versatile. Jeep's 4.0-liter inline-six was a long-standing motor by the time of XJ Cherokee. And the reason why they chose it was because it has a smooth nature, plenty of torque, and a robust reputation that rivals diesel powerhouses. Best of all, a later version like this is part of the era of factory fuel injection. It's a motor that earned a hardy reputation where the odometer just feels like it's beginning its journey. And the two-speed 4x4 transfer case means your adventures can be anywhere. There's also power steering power, brakes, and front discs for a good anytime driver. The five-speed manual gives you good control of the motor. Plus, for those of you who love the CJs, will give you a little bit of that same kind of sensation. After all, it has the feeling of firm shifts, a thin steering wheel, and a tall stance. So while it is everyday friendly, this also still feels like the proper Jeep it is. Complete with the owner's manual, this Cherokee is all about all-around fun. It's the classic that gets noticed for its style; it's the one that can still comfortably carry everyone and their stuff; and it absolutely is a go-anywhere 4x4. |
