Description of 1976 Jeep Other

This jeep is in excellent mechanical condition. I am the second owner and purchased from the original owner in 2000 when it had 88. 00 miles on the clock. He had a home in Sandy and a store at Snowbird ski area and after 20 years. retired and moved not needing the jeep. This was his second jeep and he purchased it new in 1976 off the showroom floor. It was a one owner. Shortly after purchasing the jeep. I took the jeep to my father in laws farm. and kept it serviced and we would use it to sight see and pull the sleds up the lane for winter fun. in 14 years have only put on another 8000 miles on it. It did not have a top. so it is weathered and painted camo as the sun faded the original color. Frankly the body is beat and weathered from sitting outside for 14 years and with no top. But do not let the exterior fool you and think the mechanical condition is the same. it is a sleeper. in that respect. like a rat rod that looks like it is really beat. but underneath it is a solid runner. yes. it needs a top and a blinker light switch ($20) to repair the blinker lights. The switch (lever) is on the steering column and requires a steering wheel puller of which I do not have. It blinks to the right but not to the left. but all lights and emergency flasher and stop and back up lights and front turn signals work. The switch is just kind of gone mushy and it just needs basic knowledge to repair. If I get it repaired before it is sold. great. but will discount the price another 100 dollars if you do it. I just underwent surgery for my left hand and am not able to use it or I would have had it repaired by now. It passed emissions just fine and since I was getting ready for inspection. I just used my hands for turn signals. Despite the body being rough (really just the tub area). the engine. clutch. 4wd . hubs. lights. windshield wipers. brake lights. and heater. they all work just great. It is a 4 sped with the best engine . the 258ci 6cyl and has a new battery and always starts right up. Oil has always been changed with synthetic and there are no oil leaks of any kind underneath. Motor is very strong and runs very smoothly with no smoke. or leaks. or rattles. or knocks. I also put on a new fuel pump. new spark plugs and flushed the radiator and replaced with prestone 5 year long life fluid. Clutch is like new. engages smoothly and easily. with lots of pedal still left. and brakes are solid. It is a great runner. and extremely reliable and easy to work on. I kept up the service and oil change. along with filter changes and it just runs great. I need to repair the blinker light switch on the steering column and it is ready for emissions and state inspection. Tires will pass and has a good spare. 4 spd is really a 3 spd as first is a granny gear for either pulling or going up a steep incline or going down and using the engine in 1st gear as a brake. I generally start off in second. Transmission shifts and performs as it should and is solid. No clutch slippage. and 2 years ago. replaced a throw out bearing for the clutch and observed that the clutch and pressure plate still had over 80% of wear left. Have only driven it 800 miles since. . The front bumper is extended or rather it is a winch bumper and is ready to have a winch mounted as the previous owner kept it and gave me a better price as I did not need the winch. The control and heavy wiring to the battery for the winch are still intact. On the back of the jeep a trailer hitch was installed along with a heavier duty bumper of which 2 tow or spindle hooks were attached. So. around Christmas we would all go to my father in law's farm near skyline Mtn Resort in Fairview and take the family up the lane and pull them each time for sleigh riding. An occasional sight seeing trip and we would drive to the top and this jeep has not really been off road and has not had the drivetrain beat. (Like an off road jeep used extensively in moab) When you drive it you will know it is solid and reliable. even the shocks feel strong and the suspension and alignment feel and perform correctly. needing nothing. Warn hubs on front turn and engage smoothly and all u-joints are solid and tight as is the transfer case. It also has a roll bar and new side doors. Windshield glass is perfect and wipers and washers work great. Heater is good and blower motor works fine with no rattles or squeaks and gets warm quickly. Although there is no top. the jeep starts right up no matter how cold it is. I have always kept fuel stabilizer in it along with with (Sea foam or CHEVRON with techron) as a gas additive. Have always used Chevron gasoline. mid-grade ---and used premium every third tankful to keep the internals clean. If you are looking for a beauty queen. this jeep does not pass. but if reliability. and what is underneath the surface. well. that is what makes this jeep shine. If I put a new body on it and cleaned it up and put on fancy tires it would bring 7-9K but if looks do not matter. then for the buy it now price. or winning the jeep. (the reserve is well below the buy it now price. . --I do not think you will find another 1976 jeep. as solid as this one. mechanically and only with 96. 00 original miles. Book Value is in the 3-4K range with its low miles. emailing is your best option or please leave me a message on my voice mail. I works days and evenings would be best. My cell with VM is 801 694 6394 and please call letting me know it is about the jeep as I have other items for sale on ebay. I will return your call and check my voice mail through out the day so leave a message 24 hours a day and I WILL call you back promptly. Richard Also shipping from SLC is at your expense. I am happy to drive it to you but would charge for gas. and whatever means to get back home. If you live on the east coast. there are many transport companies that would pick it up and ship for less than it would cost to drive. Figure 16-17mpg and distance and national gas price for Chevron gas and travel back to SLC. If you are overseas. I just sold a 43 jeep to a collector in the United Kingdom and was going to take it to Oakland Ca for overseas trans. but the buyer found a courier or container service and a transport truck stopped in front of my home. loaded it and took it to Calif for less than what I could drive it for. I will also be happy to pick you up at the SLC airport if you want to drive it home. Heater works fine. just bring a very warm hooded coat. Thanks and good luck bidding.
