1988 Land Rover Defender 110 2.5 Turbo Diesel Station Wagen

This is a great opportunity to get an entry to mid level Defender 110 Turbo Diesel that is already stateside, egal, egistered, nd passed Virginia Inspection. These trucks get harder and harder to bring in each year. This terrific example, hich is currently used as a daily driver, ill be a great starting point to build your perfect camping / adventuremobile for trips or daily commute. Everyone has their own ideas of what they need in a rig and that's why this one is up to you to personalize and build as you see fit. (We will gladly lend a hand of course)
100% legally imported and titled in the State of Virginia. Title in hand. Importation documentation comes with the title. Truck gets a lot of attention and people always have a talk when i get out of it.
"What you see is what you get" this is our moto as we rather tell you the good and bad and show you an honest truck that has not had bondo rather than try to hide everything under a "NEW PAINT JOB" sceem.
We do have all the parts to properly put the truck back together and will go over the cost of doing so in the next few paragraphs.
For a 27yr old vehicle it is good shape. Frame is rot free and not covered in rust. This is in large part due to the prior owners taking good care of the car. As with any land rover rust areas, uch as the door bottoms and bulkhead is inevitable. Having said that, he original doors on this vehicle should either be replaced or have extensive welding performed. The bulkhead itself is in above average shape aside from the corners as usual for this age car. I will gladly help in the process of sourcing and or fixing both the doors and bulkhead via the company i run.
Nonetheless, aint and flawless exteriors are not what it's about with this kind of vehicle, s you would buy it for its legendary status and capabilities. I have driven it all over the place and would gladly ship it for you by driving it to you!!! (some compensation is to be expected for time, uel, tc... etc...) In short, very good truck perfect for a build-up or driving it just as it is!
This vehicle is now 27yrs old and as such has the normal expected wear for it's age due to its originality. Please do not come expecting a showroom 110. If that is what you are looking for you are going to pay 90K+ in the USA. That being said, t is a great truck that is the perfect starting point for your own adventure lifestyle.

Personal Opinions:

Been my run around truck for the past 2+ Months, n lieu of my Defender 90 V8 rebuild and Edelbrock carb upgrade so some honest valued opinions from a long time Defender guy. (EU and USA)

1. Goes like 'stink' so to say, n other words she will actually do 70-75mph which many of the importable defenders do not.

2. NOT a fan of the suspension lift and the roof rack on top, t creates way to much body sway for my liking.

3. Chassis is in way way way above average shape - still take care of it give it a good waxoyl and she will last for YEARS!

4. Rear (second row) seat comes with the car but she is not installed - different mounting positions will see if i can make some brackets no promises though!

5. No insane leaks on this truck, es she seeps a little but really all rovers do.

6. Morning starts a puf of blue or two, nd of she goes without any kind of visual smoke after 10-15 seconds...

7. She is inspected and passed VA inspection with flying colors...

8. The extra lights in the front will have to be connected.


Car has been serviced:

1. Oil change and new filter has been done.

2. Differential Fluid has been changed.

3. Transfer-case Fluid has been replaced.

4. Transmission fluid has been changed.

5. Other fluids have been topped off.


Honest expectations price wise in addition to the cost of the car:

1. Bulkhead repair cost: $1000 (wings and glass panel has to be removed in order to have proper access)

2. Rear Cappings on the side: $1000 includes $600 galvanized cappings - 'do it once to it right' (the roof had to be lifted up to replace the cappings)

3. Rear headlight surrounds $125 (same time as cappings)

4. Doors: $770 a piece for galvanized doors + $35 for door lock set (front two are the worst)

5. Interior door panels: (4 required) run you $150 a piece for decent quality ones.

6. Seats - reupholstery runs about $300 a seat and will be in black vinyl only, nless other wise specified which will have a different pricing. (the right rear seat has seen better days as has the passenger front)

7. The roof rack pictured does have an awning if desired is for sale separately for an additional $850
8. Have the timing belt and waterpump changed and serviced: $600
9. Optional Boost Wheels with 265 75 16 KO M+S BF GOODRICH Tires 95% of tread remains barely a year old. Price $1700 + $150 for brand new lug nuts... gives the truck a very different stance and drastically improves handling and driving characteristics.
As a local parts supplier in the USA Defender world, e do stock quite a bit of parts that can be purchased separately and a price for installation which can be negotiated.
