Description of 1961 Land Rover Other Series 88 |
1961 Series II 88 Land Rover Rebuilt 200Tdi Defender engine from Land Rover Imports gets over 30mpg, yes you read that right it gets over 30mpg Engine cost me $6,000 shippedLt77 Five speed transmission with original series transfer case using Ashcroft five speed kit and 3.54 rear diff gear allowing for real highway speedsCustom transmission tunnel and passenger floor to accommodate the new transmission and factory series gear stick was welded to the Lt77 shifter to retain a more original lookLand Rover bolt in military crossmemberRoverdrive transfer case cooling sump plateP38 Range Rover Power steering box with custom Hybrid Steering column and shaft using the bottom portion of a defender and the original series top portion to retain the original look and series steering wheelSteve Parker 200Tdi full exhaust system from EnglandTom Woods cardon custom rear drive shaft but still needs a front drive shaft made for it to go 4 wheeling.Custom one off roof rack built to accommodate a roof top tent. The rear portion of the roof rack can be unbolted and removed so the tent can be unfolded and opened up once you arrive at your destination. Rack cost me $1200 to have built.Parabolic Springs and new shocksRebuilt brake system with all new brake lines, drums, shoes, cylinders, brake booster, brake and clutch master cylinders ect.Series 3 Power brake booster and pedal assemblyLand Rover Defender customized gas pedal assemblyLand Rover Defender turbo intercoolerLand Rover Defender radiator and custom electric fan wired to the thermostatNew door and window channel rubbers The Rover sports it's original paint with lots of patina and character. The only portion that I know was repainted is the drivers side quarter panel.Black plate original California car rust free. The only rust is in the two small drain holes near the bottom of the rear crossmember, very common. This could be welded up and grinded down nicely for $150-200 if you wanted to restore the vehicle. It's very minor and I wanted to leave the car looking original and honest so I haven't touched it. The rest of the chassis and crossmember are completely solid including the bulkhead, doors and floors all solid. Nearly impossible to find these days especially in such an early series II Land Rover. Has less than 10,000 miles on the new engine and has been my daily driver for the last few years before and after the engine and transmission swap. The Rover still needs the oil pressure and engine temp gauge hooked up. The 200Tdi runs very cool and I never worried about it but this still needs to be done in the near future. I'm only selling to buy a 109 because I need more space and I can't afford two.
