Description of 1987 Land Rover Defender

This is a unique truck in that it is in amazing shape and original. not a back yard project or a truck that someone has gone in and changed it's integrity through a "restoration". and it has awesome history. This truck was owned for 27 years by the London Police Department as a show piece vehicle used to transport diplomats and in parades etc. It was a gift from Land Rover in the late 1980s to get exposure in the London area. It was dry stored all the time and serviced by Land Rover Specialists it's whole life and it shows!!! When the LPD decided to sell the vehicle. it was in an excellent state. No rust at all. very well treated and serviced. The chassis looks it just rolled out of the factory. Although the truck was in excellent condition. a full rebuild was done to the engine by a UK Land Rover Defender Shop. due to its age. She got new brakes all around. new suspension and shocks. new tires and battery and lots of other parts that showed any age. This truck is set up for a long life. Highlights: VIN NUMBER: SALLDHMV7BA278219One owner prior to July 2014. that owner was the London Police Department72. 000 original miles before rebuild (less than 400 miles on rebuilt engine)V8 3. 5 literFull rebuild of the engine with less than 400 miles on it. Both gearbox and transfer box work perfect. no weird noises or rattles whatsoever and smooth transitions4 Wheel Drive. High/low gear and differential lock are present and work excellently. I did not want a truck that had been messed with regarding original paint or body. and I was very stubborn about a Defender with a chassis and doors that were solid. I had this truck inspected twice in Europe and it was sent to an expert shop in the UK that specializes in Defenders. All verified that it was one of the most solid and clean chassis and doors they had every seen. the truck is rust free from top to bottom. I imported it last year after having the work above done to it in Amsterdam by a UK Land Rover Private Shop. After all that effort to get it here and titled. I find myself not physically able to enjoy it and with sadness need to sell it. You will struggle to find an original Defender 110 in this condition. in the US legally with a clear title. The truck runs excellent and needs nothing to enjoy. Everything has already been done to it to make it a great every day driver or weekend toy. As most of us Defender lovers prefer. the truck is original. However someone could repaint exterior and touch up interior to make it brand new with not much investment. but honestly it is such a classic as is that I would not think anyone would want to do that. The truck is in my garage and ready to show in Dallas. As you can see it is even original Right Hand Drive. which gets a ton of attention when you have it out and about. Serious interest only please.
