Description of 1983 Land Rover Defender |
This is the rare Land Rover model that was made only in 1983 at the end of the Series 3 and before the Defender started properly in '84. They made just 7000 of this model I am told of which 5000 went to the military. According to online records there are just 63 of this model on the road now in the UK. This model had the body style of the future Defender and the mechanics of the Series 3. It's rare. I have owned this vehicle since February 2016 and covered about 2000 miles. The previous 92 year old owner used it very sparingly and the last 6 or 7 annual MOT test that we are required to have every year in the UK shows very few miles between tests - 100-300 miles usually. It passed the test last December with no advisories which is amazing for a 35 year old truck. It shows just 48600 miles now. I have installed new seats and a new clutch. It has also had a couple of small steering parts fitted otherwise it is untouched. It has the original engine and gearbox. I also have the original steel wheels which are included in the sale. It is in one of the best colors - Pastel Green (opinion) and is in pretty good condition compared to a lot that I have seen. My kids will kill me for selling it as they think that it is the coolest thing I own but my wife will kill me if I don't sell something as I have way too many cars now, not to mention tractors etc. Patina and originality seems to be the main attraction and this truck has it in buckets. I did think about putting a newer turbo diesel in it but was advised by all UK Land Rover specialists not to do this. They are slow but that is not what they are about. It will go anywhere in pretty much any conditions, and - well just look at it. I have used it as it was made and intended to be used. The prices of this model are going in one direction only at the moment. The VIN is SALLDHAG7AA203353. It won't list as it is a UK VIN. I will load more photos of the interior and bed when I get chance. The truck is in the UK and buyers will be responsible for all export costs and admin. I have a house in Florida and it can be shipped there easily but anywhere else subject to agreement. |
