Description of 1967 Land Rover 109 Series IIa Station Wagon |
For sale is my 1967 Land Rover 109 Series IIA Safari Station Wagon with the tropical roof. I have owned her since 2011. She has a clean and clear title with no accidents. The vehicle drives and performs beautifully. She is very fun to drive. Handles beautifully with excellent manners. Gets thumbs up wherever she goes. Chevy inline 6 engine is easy to service and parts are readily available. Everything works except the horn on the steering wheel which is bypassed by a horn button on the dash and works fine. Heavy duty axles and front and rear ARB air locking differentials are installed along with a brand-new transmission. Air compressor is under the front passenger seat so you can deflate and inflate the tires or anything else while in the wild. All repairs and upgrades have been done in the U.S. by professional Land Rover specialists and restoration experts. I have all the paperwork and receipts. You will see I have invested over $45K. I've always loved old Land Rovers and their simple rugged timeless appeal. I have spent far more than I will ever be able to sell it for, but need to let her go. I rarely drive her anymore. I am selling because I need a pickup truck and have enough other vehicles. I'm not a mechanic so have always had Land Rover specialists work on her which has been expensive with all the restorations and upgrades. She has been well-cared for. Always garaged. Rarely driven off-road even though very capable. Mainly short trips around town and a few fishing trips.Serial number search revealed the vehicle is number 640 out of 811 produced from 1966-68. It was built between May and June 1967 and shipped directly to its owner in King City, California. Originally painted red and was later painted Green. No other paint jobs done. Nothing covered or hidden by a new paint job. Wanted to maintain the old patina. In 1967, only 211 NADA 6 cylinder Staton Wagons were produced. This is number 40 of those 211. Number 640 out of 811 NADA 6 wagons ever produced. Rare and getting more rare. The history is as follows: 1967 Built in Solihull, England and shipped directly to owner in King City, CA. 1999 Frame-off restoration by owner prior to me at The British-Northwest Land Rover Company (now Dare Britannia, LTD.) I have all those receipts and details. Custom A/C was installed which required a larger fan. Original wings were replaced with newer wings with headlamps on them, providing increased central surface area for the larger cooling fan. A/C never worked well and was scrapped by the prior owner. Custom stereo in the central Tuffy box and speakers were also installed. They all work. In 2011, I purchased the vehicle and she immediately went to Great Basin Rovers in SLC, Utah. Spent 3 years there getting a major overhaul and also some time at Weston Restorations for a few minor restorations.-New rear heavy duty Salisbury axle-Front and rear ARB air locking differentials. 3.9 gear ratio. ARB air compressor is under the passenger seat with custom protective undershield.-New rear custom leaf springs-New front parabolic leaf springs-New Remanufactured Synchronized 4 speed Transmission from England-Heavy duty Old Man Emu shocks-New Mansfield heater-New Clutch main assembly and slave cylinder-New master brake cylinder-New brake assist servo-Rebuilt Carburetor-Seals replaced-Many fuel lines replaced with steel-Multiple wiring upgrades-New electric fuel pump-Manual choke easy cold weather starts-New heavy duty battery-New hoses and brake lines-Exmoor seats. Very comfortable.-Waxoyled-Just serviced with oil and all fluids changed. Chassis lubed. Chassis is solid with no structural weak spots. Remaining work to be done is cosmetic. If I kept her, I would install a dual circuit braking system for increased safety. The entire upgraded braking system was replaced with New Old Stock. I have to keep an eye on the brake fluid level and occasionally top it off. It has been checked by professional mechanics and no obvious leaks found. I would guess it may need seals checked in the brake assist servo which was recently replaced with NOS. All sales are final. Actual mileage is unknown. Thanks and good luck. I have been an Ebay user since its inception. I haven't used my account for a few years so they deleted my account. I've never had an issue buying or selling so bid with confidence. I listed earlier, but reserve wasn't met. I have lowered the reserve. Good luck. Thank you. |
