PLEASE READ BEFORE BID, 1968 Light weight Land Rover, Up to last Year was my daily driver in Anchorage AK, now in SW Washington. Runs, Drives, Brakes, Lights work. I have two Classic Land Rovers, but can only afford to restore one of them, so the Lightweight must be sacrificed. I had planned on restoring with a Richards Galvanized Chassis and changing to Left hand drive(easily converted with stock series 2 or 3 parts). What has been done: New Door bottoms and tops, new generator, water pump, new Canvas back, new electronic ignition distributor, installed rebuilt Carburetor(replacement Carter),& fuel tank selector (dual tanks). tubular exhaust & exhaust system is 2 years old. Overhauled MAP front locking Hubs, Equipped with a 8000 lbs electric winch, currently riding on Defender Wolf style wheels (5 original wheels included). removable truck cab. included is the Military roll bar as seen in first photo, 2 original door bottoms, rebuildable, new replacement panels for grill area. just under 72000 original miles & engine, Has it's rare original Military license plates. This Rover is 52 years old and needs restoration, or you can keep it going as is & drive it for several years.before you restore if you address issues: It suffers from the typical old rover ailments. the rear cross member is solid and front dumb irons good, but rust is showing in rear wheel wells (can weld angle iron to repair) I believe the frame is repairable, but a new Galvanized frame & wiring harness and the rover will make it another 50 years. Electric water temp gauge is inop Included is a new in box capillary gauge, fuel gauge inop needs tank switch. Original 12 Volt Negative Ground. IF YOU DO NOT KNOW OLD LAND ROVERS, CHECK WITH A SPECIALTY SHOP BEFORE BIDDING! Parts are still readily available on line. I can deliver in the Continental U.S. west of Rock Mountains fo 85 cents a mile. you are welcome to come to SW Washington (across river from Portland OR) and drive/inspect. please ask any questions before you bid. Thank You (NOTE: since reinstalling the rebuilt Carb this week, there is a hesitation when throttle is held steady. Starting, idle and acceleration are good, hope to sort out this week.).
