Description of 1959 Lincoln Continental |
I purchased this 1959 Mark IV in 2007 as a barn find restoration project. car has been setting since 1977. Was assembled new at the Ford Wayne plant. sold new in Texas and all it's life in Texas until purchased by me in 2007. An on and off project for me since 2007. car is about 75 to 80% done. has been completely dismantled. cleaned. resealed. repainted to original. built from the ground up in every detail. is 98% complete with original 14 inch rims. also like new original wheel caps. Body and chassis are all original sheet metal. never wrecked or replaced. body and all related parts stripped and pressure bead blasted to bare metal. primed and resealed. top coated with two stage urethane original color paint. All chassis and suspension and related parts pressure blasted clean and repainted with all bushings and rubber replaced. All electric motors dismantled and cleaned with new lubricant added. all tested and found to be in good working condition. Top frame. motor and hydraulics cleaned with new fluid added and works excellent. Most weather stripping through out the car has been replaced new. Windshield is new as well as some of the door glass. the rest is in good original condition. Exhaust pipes. mufflers. clamps and resonators are new. never used. Engine rebuilt with new parts by Waynes in Riverside. including new original carburator. fuel pump and flywheel by me. transmission good with new seals. drive shaft cleaned and painted. new u-joints installed. All stainless trim good. Has new ignition switch and wiring good. What is still needed:Gas tank needs to be restored or replaced. New top dash pad. Interior upholstery and carpets. TiresTop fabric. Radiator needs to be re-cored. Bumpers need new chrome plating. Brake master cylinder needs rebuild kit. Air compressor needs to be checked and probably rebuilt. Original radio and speakers complete. but does not work. batteryWill trade this project for a good "Skip Loader" tractor with attachments. |
