Description of 1962 Lincoln Continental |
1962 Lincoln Continental ~California Barn find~Out of a 300 Car collection~Has been in storage for the last 49 years~Original dual matching black plates issued with the car 57 years ago~California time capsule; you or I cannot duplicate this carthey are only original once When it comes to vintage automobiles, California and the West Coast of the United States have always been the most desirable the world over for many reasons; the mild climate and the fact that many automotive trends started in California. The automobile is the perfect technological symbol of American culture, a tangible expression of our quest to level space, time, and class and a reflection of our relentless mobility, social and otherwise. You see automobiles advertised the world over described as California cars because at some point they were in California or drove through California. A true California car is one that was sold new in California and titled in California, one that has the original plates that are on that title is a true California car.We are liquidating a collection of 300 actual California cars. This is a collection that took 70 years to comprise. Most have the original paint and original California licence plates issued to them when they were new. This 1962 Lincoln Continental 4-door sedan is an original California time capsule that has spent the last half a century in storage and is part of a 300 car private collection that is being liquidated. The car is finished in it's original Oxford Grey Poly and red leather interior that it left the Wixom Michigan Lincoln factory 57 years ago and. It is powered by the 300 HP 430 CID V8 with the Twin-Range Turbo-drive 3 speed automatic. It fires up and runs very well. This is a true California survivor with the original Black and yellow California plates issued to this car 57 years ago. Exterior:The car what looks like it's originalOxford Grey Poly, it possibly had a few dings or dents repaired years ago but looks overall original. This is a car that has been indoors nearly 50 years. It has aged very well and shows well, the overhead lights reflect badly and what might look like a side swipe in one pic and not the other is the indoor lighting . The car has a few dings and dents but no sign of any collisiondamageor previous repair. It is a outstanding example Interior:The interior is stunning the #85 Red Leather option is a huge bonus, starting with the headliner which is like new, no sagging and the red is still bright, the rear seat condition is constantwith one that had never beenused, it is like new because it has had no use and kept indoors in a mild climate, the door panels are also like they were 50 years ago, it has had no exposure to the sun, rain or any other elements the last 50 years, the front seat has a few age cracks from someone actually sitting on them, there are no rips or tears. The interior overall shows a lack of use and looks to have been sealed away Mechanically: the 7 Liter325 HP big block 430 CID V8 that was commonlyreferred to as the "bull dozer" of the MEL enginesshe fires right up and is super powerful and yet very smooth overall. Mechanically the car runs and drives verywell as I witnessed last week after it was serviced and a new fuel pump fitted this sleeping giant. The Twin-Range Turbo drive 3 speed automatic shifts well as it should as it was rebuilt by Holridge transmission shop in 1970 the car driven 2 thousand miles and then parked in the building this is a true time warp xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 961 Lincoln Continental Commercial - YouTube TERMS OF SALE I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO:
