1973 Lincoln Continental Coupe Lincoln's founder, Henry M. Leland was a design genius. But due to his lack of business and manufacturing prowess, his company was sold to the Ford Motor Company for 8 million dollars in the early 1920's. All Lincoln vehicles owe their brand name to the US president Abraham Lincoln, whom Henry Leland idolized. Much of their design is borrowed from the tastes of Cadillac. In fact, Leland was a founder of Cadillac. Touches of their designs can be found on the Premiere, Lincoln's blockbuster model in 1956. According to a 2013 poll, Lincoln was the preferred American brand, reaching a higher rating than Cadillac amongst US drivers. For consignment a 2-door coupe made up of miles of solid Detroit iron which is dedicated to the luxurious transporting of its passengers from point A to point B. A car which has been in the family since its original purchase in 1973. This land yacht is ready to cruise and can definitely be a sound driver for the long haul. Back and forth to Florida for the snowbird wintering? Why not do it in style...Heeeelloooooo Boca! Exterior Reminiscent of the early 1970's design squares and rectangles work together to form the exterior shape of this limo sized 2 door coupe. Bathed in Light Yellow Gold with a white vinyl top, it has a mere 51,267 original miles, and I have to admit, it looks the part. Hidden headlights front the chromed V shaped egg crate grille (HOLD ON!! STOP THE MUSIC.. Peter you can't use "egg crate for the grille", this is a Lincoln...Let's call it a truffle box grille!). Ok so...chromed V shaped truffle box grille. A big bumper is below and shines its way forward, you'll not need the headlights. A big boxy grille surround in light yellow gold prepares your eye for the long trip rearward to the front glass, white vinyl top, big doors and the hint of a curve on the rear quarters. All steel, and all minding their gaps very nicely. The NYC 2-bedroom sized trunk takes the sloped line from the rear glass and B pillars, and levels it out for the trunk lid. Just below is another massive piece of chrome in the form of a taillight inserted rear bumper, big time! Nice shiny wheel covers accent thin whites on all 4 corners. Howad, get the bahgs, and let's get the hell outta heah befoh it snos...Thank gawd for Flaridha! Aquebogue ain't no place ta be in tha wintah. Interior What else but white leather, plenty of chrome trim work, wood appliqu and deep chocolate brown carpeting for the interior of this car? Enough convenience buttons and toggles just in the door to keep you distracted for miles. All in nearly showroom condition. Turning our attention to the interior chairs, there are dueling benches, a split back for the front and the big chair for the back. All white, all pristine, and all heavenly comfortable. A chocolate brown dash with a mixture of wood and padding makes up the gauge cluster and mid dash. Still going strong with the conveniences with intermittent wipers/washer/ climate controls and plenty of warning lights for your eye to wander along with your fingers. An AM/FM radio which is original is in the center, with a fold down hinged ash receptacle and lighter combo which neatly disappears out of the way. Nice brown carpet below and a vented white headliner is above, nice and tight. Gimme a cigahret, this traeffik is horrahbel! Drivetrain Under the long hood is a beautifully preserved 460ci V8. It has a 4-barrel carburetor on top and a 3-speed automatic (C6) on back, with a Ford 9-inch rear with 2.75 cruising gears. Give it gaz, I wanna get ova da bredg befoah 5! Undercarriage An overall patina and some light surface rust, but for a 47 year old gal she's looking great underneath! All structurally solid on all the big panels and frame used in lieu of a unibody so it can easily be added top for a long stretch limo...true fact! Power disc brakes upfront and power drums for the rear. Drive-Ability Just a beautiful driver and cloud like ride with ample room for whatever you decide to do. Storage galore, conveniences all work save for the rear passenger power window (just turn on the recharged air!) which blows cold. Despite all the background noise during this description, this car is a really great low mileage, large and in charge cruiser with plenty of conveniences, a great looker, and has some serious power when you need it to merge with traffic on the L.I.E.
