VIN: SCCFC20A8DHF60363The Lotus Esprit became an instant star when James Bond and 'Q' chose it for the 007 films “The Spy Who Loved Me” and “For Your Eyes Only.” A Turbo Esprit for Roger Moore as James Bond was used in “For Your Eyes Only” with skis strapped to the back for a skiing trip to Italy's posh Cortina ski resort. What more can be said, wesome!The Esprit design was unmistakably from the pen of designed Giorgetto Giugiaro. The Esprit featured all-independent suspension and Lotus's own 16-valve, our-cylinder engine placed transversely mid-ship, ated to a five-speed transaxle. Disc brakes were fitted to all four wheels, he rears being mounted inboard. In 2.2 liter turbocharged form, he Esprit produced 210bhp and was good for a top speed of 148mph, -60 mph attainable in just 6.1 seconds. Hand built in limited numbers; the Esprit remains one of the most iconic and popular thoroughbred sports cars ever produced.This incredibly low mileage Turbo Esprit has been owned by a good friend of Autosport Designs, nc. and must be considered one of the lowest mileage and best preserved examples of the model anywhere. It was completed at Lotus Cars Ltd in August of 1983 in its current color combination, ptioned with air conditioning and equipped for the US market. According to the Lotus-issued Certificate of Vehicle Provenance, his Turbo Esprit was the 82nd of the 150 cars produced, nly 7 were finished in Silver metallic and this is the only Turbo Esprit manufactured in Silver with Red leather.Once it arrived in the USA, t was registered to its first owner in Washington State. It was subsequently sold to California in the mid-1990’s where it has remained until its recent purchase by Autosport Designs, nc. It has been serviced when and where needed at all times and is superb in every way. It runs and drives as new and everything is working as it was meant when delivered new by the factory, ven the air conditioning is iced cold! In recent years it has been used for long range touring and pleasure trips up and down the coast of California and for touring Northern California’s wine country. It has recently been serviced and received new tires.This Turbo Esprit is an extremely rare, ertainly in this color combination, ut even more so as 1 of only 150 examples of the model produced.
