Description of 1966 Maserati Other |
Maserati has never been a stranger to fine Grant Touring cars. Beginning with the famous 3500, the company has produced some of the finest handling and most powerful GT cars on the road. Most thought the pinnacle had been reached with the 3500 Sebring, a Maserati of legendary status, but in 1963 the Mistral was introduced to an enthusiastic motoring public. There were several “firsts and last” with the Mistral with it being the last Maserati to use the famous four liter double overhead cam inline six that won many races for Maserati, but the Mistral also introduced a new tradition with Maserati using model names after various winds. Indeed the Mistral is a cold northerly wind that originates in southern France and this led to Maserati’s Ghibli, Bora, and the Karif. In its day the Mistral literally defined the Grand Touring experience power to spare and a nicely appointed interior. It is a very well kept original car that has been cosmetically restored. The paint is in very nice condition and the interior is also very nice. The undercarriage is extremely original with its original undercoating from the factory showing no signs of ever having any rust repair. Mechanically the car runs strong and shifts as it should with the synchros in great condition, no grinding whatsoever. It was sold new in Europe and came from the Genaroli collection in Belgium. This is a 4.0 liter car so itscertainly the one to have. It is a matching numbers original example. As for service records, I have what was done during my time with the car. If anyone has any questions feel free to contact me directly or through ebay. Thanks! - Alex |
