Description of 1992 Mazda MX-5 Miata

1992 Mazda MX-5 Miata. 55,300 miles. 1..6L Engine, 5-speed Manual Transmission. Straight Chassis/Frame. OEM Hardtop.

I bought this car in 2012. The car had 51,000 miles. I performed the following maintenance when I bought the car:

  • New Convertible Soft Top

  • New Wheels and TIres

  • New Hawk Street Pads, Rotors

  • Steel Brake Lines

  • New Shocks, Struts

  • Key Locks for Hardtop

  • FM Door Bushings

  • Tune-Up, Plug Wires, etc.

I drove the car approximately 4,000 miles over the next eight years. Over that time, I acquired the following parts. These parts are still NiB, ready to install:

  • FM Front and Rear Sway Bars

  • FM Frame Rail Braces

  • FM Catalytic Converter

I also have a Covercraft Car Cover and the OEM Wheels. All of these items will be included in the sale.

This car is in excellent shape for a 1992 automobile. It does have some issues that I will call out.

  • The paint on this car is worn from being stored outside (prior to my ownership).

  • There is a small section of damage to the fiberglass hardtop. It also has some light surface rust by the windows (pictured). There is very little rust overall. This is a southern car in great shape.

  • The car has a blown gasket where the downpipe connects to the exhaust system. This is a common issue and very inexpensive to fix. However, it has not been fixed because the car has been in storage since the beginning of the lockdown.

  • This car has been in one accident. It was a low speed impact to the front bumper. The damage was cosmetic and fixed by a professional body shop (2012).

I have decided to sell this car because I have a lot of cars, and I would like to buy another one. While my wife is very patient with my hobby (of owning and driving cars), she can count, so I am selling this car. This is a great base for someone who wants to restore an early Miata for love or profit, or for someone who wants to do some minor work and then drive the wheels off it.
