Description of 1969 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class |
For the past three and half years this Mercedes Benz 280SL nicknamed "Pagoda" has been under a meticulous process of restoration . I prefer call a "time reversal". I started with a 56000 miles . one owner . all original 1969 280SL . and with a help of a lot of learning . studying . reading articles . logs and mainly Mercedes Classic experties and parts supply I attempted to bring this Mercedes Benz back to as close as possible to the showroom condition. The overall appearance result is what you may see on the pictures. early perfect body panels with nice gaps. shinning trim . ttention to the every detail. a ellegant and very attractive looking. . ut most importantly this Pagoda was brought to the driveability and reliability of its early days. It would be much easier to list here what has not been done on this car. yes there is a few things that were left untouched to preserve originality . however the answer for most of your questions is" yes . it is new. replaced. r rechromed. or remanufactured to the original specs. This Mercedes 280SL has been tuned and adjusted to perfection . this matching numbers car with original engine idles quietly and smoothly . no rocker arms noise can be heard under the hood. revs and sounds amazingly and you don't have to watch the temperature gauge when you drive . just enjoy the ride. I have included as many pictures I could and also a couple of links to youtube video so you can have a good idea of how my this Pagoda runs. I apologize for the videos imperfections it is just a amateur thing. I prefer to answer your questions and coments over the ebay . here is many interesting details about this restoration and it is virtually impossible to describe them right here. I 'd just like to point out a few things about my car :1) For the Pagodas "aficcionados" this Mercedes pass most of the so called "buyer's guide of originality". stamped numbers. ront fender indents. nd so on. but also as I mentioned previously the engine is original not so often found on those cars. 2) The body color code combination #268 is original . canvas soft top was also replaced with original color. nterior carpet has been replaced with original pattern . I removed the original carpet from the car. 3) The Becker radio works perfectly. 4) The car is now equipped with a barely used Michelin tires. they are in fact white walls and can be reversed to suit the buyer's taste. I personally prefer black walls as they are shown on the pictures . 5) You might have noticed that I left the front bumper guards out. I though that the Pagodas look much better without them . however they can be reinstalled . 6) Finally about the price. I feel that there is many Pagodas being offered for sale at this time mostly by dealers . some private owners . t looks to me that this car has been current very well sought by collectors . ercedes Benz admirers and so on . ome cars in a similar condition are being sold at auctions for over $150000. 00 as it recently happen over the weekend at Scottsdale Auctions. but whether you are a Pagoda expert or a first time Mercede Benz buyer . lease compare them carefully . I welcome you to ask any question you'd like about this car and most importantly I invite you to test drive my car . I am confident that you'd love it. video links:http://youtu. be/zSVOuQ-1Yqghttp://youtu. be/V7DK7ZAEuw0http://youtu. be/p8gfQ0OgzdAThanks, |
