1991 Mercedes Benz 500 SL

I had this car sold on eBay, ut buyer was unable to complete the trasnaction. So, am relisting it.

I am selling my 1991 MBZ 500 SL. It has 95K miles on it and I have owned it for about 9 years. If you have never owned or driven one of these beasts, hey are one of the best Mercedes ever made. This car has been a really great car for me, ow on maintenance and high on fun. Even after 24 years the car is tight and solid as all Mercedes Benz cars are from this period. I am the 2nd owner, nd I bought it with 38K miles on it. Since I work at home I don't do a lot of driving, ut this was my every day driver. Over the last couple of years I found myself driving it less & less and, ince I have 4 cars, have decided to sell it. Although I have tried to keep up on all it's needs, t's a little more than I want to get into right now as I am restoring two other classic cars presently. So, am selling it low enough where someone else can do what is needed and still have a great car for many more years. Pros & cons are listed below:

Pros. Low mileage. Strong engine with no leaks. Ceramic brakes & new rotors. I had a new AMG style front bumper put on about 4 years ago - just a cosmetic thing that I liked. Chrome wheels, rand new tires all around. Rebuilt transmission at 85,000 miles.Beautiful interior, ash is in good shape, enter wood console has some minor cracks but nothing extensive (typical for these models). Carpets in fantastic shape, oor panels all in good condition. Put a new stereo/CD player in several years ago. Two tops and I will even throw in hard top roof stand in the sale, f requested. Registration paid through 2015

Cons. Paint overall is pretty nice, waxed it often, ut clear-coat starting to wear thin on fender haunches - will need paint (see pics). Front suspension needs to be done with shocks. Hydraulics for convertible top leak and need to be rebuilt. Vinyl convertible top is in good shape but windows in it need to be replaced (costs about $200-). Cruise control has never worked on this car -even when I first purchased it. I never use it in my other cars so never had it checked. A short while ago I was cleaning the inside and pushed the trip odometer to re-set it and it stopped working along with the odometer. I can have this fixed before it is shipped at buyers expense. This is a common problem among SLs all the way back to the mid 80's cars.

I am presently having the A/C re-charged and few other things taken care of. These cars are just starting to go up in value as do all SL models. My starting price is fair considering the low miles on the car. It will be a wonderful car if all the above itemsrepaired, just don't have the time or resources to do so.
