Description of 1991 Mercedes-Benz S-Class |
Classic and highly sought after 1991 Mercedes 350 SD 4 door sedan. The car has just under 266,000 miles. I am the 3rd owner of the car and I have had it for 150,000 miles of those miles . This has been the most reliable car I have ever owned! It has literally never let me down, never broken down or failed to start. I would not hesitate to get in this car tomorrow and drive it 400 miles. I truly love this car and would never sell it but we now have 6 cars and so I want this car to be passed on to someone who will love it for the next 150,000 miles. The car is rust free and in great mechanical condition (with maintenance records available from certified mechanic). The paint is in very good condition and still has nice gloss to it. The car has 4 Michelin all weather tires (90,000 mile tires) that have about 70% tread life on them....The fact that we purchase 90,000 mile tires not only speaks to the fact that it has been well loved, but also to the fact that we have confidence that the tires will wear out long before the car does.
This is our second Mercedes diesel and our 3 diesel. For those that are unfamiliar with the Mercedes diesel engines they are much different (and for me better) than a gas engine. They are builtfor the Audubon andare most comfortable flat out on the highway. If you are unfamiliar with them, around town, they may feel a bit different as diesels particular when accelerating from a dead stop. On the other hand, they run forever and are generally simpler and cheaper to maintain and have a MUCH longer life and have great fuel efficiency (about 25-32 mpg). The body of these 350 S class cars is extremely solid and safe. The automatic transmission is in good working order. Shocks and breaks are also good. Everything works (radio, moon roof, windows, seats, heat, AC, etc). From a non-smoking home.
This car has never been in an accident or even a fender bender. There is normal wear and tear that would be expected in a car that is 26 years old. Since sometimes a great photo can hide some blemishes and in an effort to give you confidence in purchasing this fantastic car, I am taking extra steps to over communicate imperfections or "age spots" on this 26 year old classic. They are as follows: There is a hole in the driver's seat (from wear) and a couple small holes in the back seat (from our dog's toe nail) [see photos]. There are a couple small door dings [2 - barely noticeable even when pointed out) [see photos] that would be expected in a 26 year old car and a couple small scratches [on hood from a neighbors Peacock that landed on the hood]. There is a small tare in the lining where the seat-belt pull over your shoulder [actually there when I purchased the car and are noted in the photos]. There is a small wear spot in the steering wheel but is not visible as there is a high quality two tone leather steering wheel cover that looks very classy [see photos]. The car has 37,021 more actual miles than shown on the odometer. The speedometer/odometer broke last November with 263,886 miles on it. Since the part was no longer available from Mercedes, our mechanic replaced it with a used part that he obtained (which read 226,865). I do have the receipts documenting the mileage when it stopped working and documentation of the installation of the replacement odometer when installed by a certified mechanic.
I have tried to cover everything with complete honesty and answer as many questions as I could think of. Please ask questions before bidding. You are welcomed and encouraged have a mechanic check out the car prior to purchase. Five hundred dollar non-refundable deposit is due immediately upon close of auction. Final payment is due within 5 days. All sales are final. This vehicle is sold as is with no warranties. Buyer must pick up the car in Apex NC or personally arrange for shipping. |
