Description of 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series

Overall car is in pretty nice shape. Paint is tired but the car still looks quite good. It has been in the family for 12 years and has never let us down. Interior MB Tex is in nice shape. Non-smoking family car.

My mechanic says it probably needs a turbo rebuild. Blows blue smoke when you hit the accelerator hard. OK when idling or driving on the flat even at 50 mph or more. Could easily be driven to its next destination.

Engine mileage is approx 375,000, ut it is still is strong and the car is pretty fast. Even with the smoke issue, his was our daily driver for the past couple of years (and the decade before) until this summer when we set it aside. Two years ago we replaced the body on the engine and that's why there is an Odometer flagged on the history. The Odometer on the car reads about 250,000 but as said, he engine has more miles on it.
Starts right up, ven in coldest weather. Good Continental ContiPro tires. Good vacuum. Regular oil changes and filter replacements. Recent 0-ring replacement on the fuel injector pump.

Two-year old Kenwood stereo receiver with iPhone jack. A/C could use a recharge (hasn't been done in a couple years even though it blew cold earlier this summer). Other things that don't work include sunroof, ear seat electric windows and cruise control is picky about whether it wants to work or not. There are possibly other accessories that don't work.

Plenty of life left in this tank if you're looking for safe, asic transportation with around 30mpg. We just decided to get something new rather than do the turbo rebuild.
