Description of 1966 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Manual 4-Speed Leather |
Selling for a friend. I have driven this car. It is a nice old Mercedes that comes from California earlier this year. 1966 Mercedes 230 "Fintail" Sedan with factory 4-Speed floor shift, dual carburetors, Mercedes Tool Kit, Becker Radio. The quality of these cars were very nice when new compared to many others of the day; produced by craftsmen to a standard, not a price. The car has spent all of it's known life in California (near Bakersfield) hence it's condition. It has been maintained as necessary throughout the years. The car would appear to have been repainted some time ago, it retains a good appearance to the paint with some chips and touch-ups. For 50 years old, it still holds up. Easily able to keep up with modern traffic. It smokes a little when starting. Perhaps the best part of the car is the ride. It rides much smoother than most any new Mercedes, rough roads and bumps are hardly felt. The Manual Transmission is a 4 speed, with floor shifter - rarely seen on these sedans. The characteristics of the transmission shifter is a little different to others. The shifter is very loose when in gear, but shifts in and out of position easily once you are familiar with its function. The interior is original and very comfortable for five. This is a big car for being a "small car." The carpets are in excellent shape and obvously replaced. I'm not aware of any rust in the car. The car was recently serviced by a specialist shop and received carburetor adjustment, fluid change and a new muffler. It now has an original Becker Radio (not wired) and the original rubber truck mat is not shown in the pictures. I was told by the previous owner that the car was retained by one family since new and used at a University north of LA. You are invited to inspect the car to satisfy yourself as to its condition. The car has no warranty, real or implied, and is sold as is and where is. The cost of any transportation is at the buyers expense. The car will not be released until all funds have cleared my bank account. Cash, Cashiers Check or Wire Transfer. Full amount to be paid within 5 business days. The Indiana Title is clear and ready for transfer. |
