This is a lovely original California 1981 240 D with 148,488 original miles with the desirable 4 speed manual transmission. The car starts right up and runs extremely well. It is a California survivor and 100% rust free. The 240 is finished in "Lapis Blue Poly" (color code #932)and has a lovely shine. There are minimal nicks, chips, dings, etc. No major imperfections, previous accidents or dents. The body and chassis are 100% rust free since new. Excellent original chrome trim and rubber. There is some cracking in the rubber on the front and rear windshield seals and there are no leaks so the seal is very tight. Mechanically the car is very sound. The idle is as smooth as a Rolex. The engine is A+++. No leaks, smoke or unusual noises. The clutch is superb and shifting through the gears is easy. The entire drivetrain is solid and tight. All electrical mechanical and climate control systems are in proper working order. The air conditioning blows strong cold air (retrofitted to 134a). The brakes, steering and suspension are in tip top condition. Power windows and other options like sunroof work. All gages are in good working order and show normal readings. Original working Becker radio. The interior is very nice and original! There is minimal wear as you would expect from a 5 year old vehicle let alone a 35+ year old example . The carpeting, console and door panels are all in great shape. The headliner is nice other than it is coming down a bit above the drivers rear seat area (see pic of exterior of car). The engine compartment is immaculate. Nice stock wheels/hubcaps. There is some paint fading on the hubcaps which only adds character. The tires are decent and ok temporarily, however new tires are recommended soon. This is a very attractive-solid original rust free California car that can be enjoyed as an everyday driver or Sunday cruiser. Either way the new owner will be impressed with it's overall mechanical/cosmetic condition and economical drive train.
