Description of 1970 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 220D

For sale is a 1970 Mercedes Benz 220D with a clear title that runs and drives strong, in 717 Papyrus White with a surprisingly excellent Olive Green, original MB Tex Interior.
Below are a few notes on the vehicle's condition, positives, negatives, history and shipping/payment information:
Condition: Ultimately, this is a running, driving, project car. Mechanically the car functions pretty well, and as stated, it runs and drives strong. No major issues are present in the drive train, but there are a few minor issue, which are highlighted in the 'negatives' below, along with all other issues. The car is basically all original down to the paint, but rust has gotten the better of the floor pans and trunk pan, which accounts for most of the car's exterior cosmetic problems. The car has original paint, which has worn down with time, so naturally it will need to be repainted. The interior of the car is a breath of fresh air featuring original olive green seats in excellent condition, along with a nearly perfect dash and center console, as well as working A/C (blows but must be recharged). Overall, the car is a great project - it runs and drives strong, has a clear title and the body work can be fixed fairly simply with some smart purchases (see below).
Positives:
-Original MB Tex Seats in Olive Green, in Excellent Condition. Springs are in great shape, seats have no tears/rips, and no fading.
-Dash/ Center Console - Free of any significant cracks, although two very small cracks (less than 1" each) are present, overall the dash and center console is in excellent condition and is complete.
-Original Becker California Radio still in vehicle and is in great aesthetic condition, but does not power on. Hirschmann antenna also present and complete.
-A/C, a rare feature for these models, blows and fully functions, but will need a recharge to blow cold.
-All books included, along with lengthy maintenance records.
-Original hubcaps, spare and mercedes tool kit included.
-Headliner is in great shape.
-Roof, pillars and areas around windshield and rear windshield have no major rust issues.
-Door interiors are also in great shape and show no signs of peeling, tears or fading - overall in perfect condition aside from one tray that has broken loose from a mounting screw on one of it's sides.
-The car runs strong, drives well and shifts smoothly.
-Transmission resealed in 2007.
-Fuel System resealed recently.
-Valves adjusted within the last 2000 miles.
-Compression Test performed on engine recently with excellent results.
-Despite presence of floor rust, jack points still solid.
-All trim is in excellent condition and complete.
-All mechanical functions of car's interior work perfectly.
-All glass is original and in great shape.
-Car is accident free and sees no dents or dings.
-All lights interior and exterior function well, along with windshield wipers.
-Clean engine bay, wheel wells and under carriage.
-Clear title.
Negatives:
-Weak power steering return hose, will need to be replaced.
-All floor pans need to be replaced, driver's, passenger and passenger rear all hold fine, driver rear has been removed. Trunk pan still holds okay, but will need replacement.
-Some doors have rust in corners that has gone through in select locations.(see photos)
-Door in-steps have rust that has eaten through in select locations. (see photos)
-Shock absorbers need to be replaced.
-Front and rear brakes need full service.
-Carpet behind back seat has degraded.
-Some original carpets are frayed.
-Tires are worn and will need to be replaced.
History:
I acquired this car for one of my clients in 2005 from the estate of the original owner, who was a school teacher in South Carolina. The originalowner acquired the car new from importer LP EVANS in Miami, specifically ordered with AC, automatic trans. with floorshift, Becker California AM radio and power steering, in 717 Papyrus white over olive green mb tex,. I have owned the car and it has been kept in storage for about 3 years.
Shipping/Payment:
Payment details are outlined below and a deposit of $500 is required at the time of purchase, although alternative forms of payment (via check, money order, etc.) can be arranged.
Shipping can be arranged after purchase, or the car can be picked up in person. I would not recommend taking the car cross country just yet, so bring a trailer.
As for any other questions, please message me.
For those interested in taking this on as a restoration project, a good starting point is the floor pans, which are available from Ecklers. Total cost for all 4 is about $410 and can be foundHERE
