Description of 1972 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Base |
For sale is a 1972 Mercedes 250 base (W114). I love this car with all I have and babied it from the time I bought it. Currently it is my daily driver, however I am sadly looking for a truck to get me through the winter months as I make a move up north. I am in need of a quick sale so serious offers only please. I have put a lot of money into this car and I need to at least break even or else its coming north with me. When it comes to cars I feel preventative maintenance is always cheaper than needed repairs and the car absolutely shows that. The car is mechanically a tank and has a current inspection. Currently I have normal plates and tags on it but the buyer can change them to antique tags. Title in hand and ready to sell. THE GOOD: Oil changed every 1,000-2,000 miles Original Paint Tires are snow/muds and still have a good deal of tread Interior is just under perfection -Zebra wood on glove box has a bubble under clear coat (Shown in picture) -Back edge of headliner slipped out of fastener -All lights work with the exception of the interior rear courtesy light, just blew out, needs newbulb. RECENT REPAIRS: ~Repairs since 7.8.2016~ Replaced all 8 subframe bushings Repaired idle cut off jet and fabricated new gasket Replaced battery 3 months ago to a bigger Bosch Replaced front brake hoses Replaced driveshaft flex joints Alignment check New front brake pads New rear brake pads Replaced transmission shift linkage bushings Replaced exhaust hangers Replaced front windshield gasket Replaced all 4 door seals & trunk seal Rust repair on drivers corners of the car and just above headlight ~Repairs since11.16.2016~ Replaced accelerator pumps and needle valves Cleaned all passages and float bowls in both carburetors Rebuilt carburetors Replaced carburetor gaskets MISC. REPAIRS GT Automotive Radiator Cleaned and Coated gas tank and pressure tested tank Replaced gas cap (Have original gas cap but needed a new gasket) Flushed power steering reservoir (Have 2 more MB power steering bottles--expensive stuff!) New power steering low pressure hoses Oil Changed less than 100 miles ago New air filter replaced 1,000 miles old New gas rubber gas lines <1,000 miles old New starter solenoid 1,000 miles old Roof rack is a custom hand built one of a kind THE BAD Still has a high idle since carb rebuild(adjustment willbe madethisTuesday) Rust repairs were primed and painted but have yet to be sanded and shaped, I have no experience with paint touch ups so I never touched it. Shown in pictures on drivers side at the back of wheelwells. Trim is not in perfect condition, back towards tailgate has bend, some of the chrome is faded. There is scratch on the drivers side just above front tire (Shown in picture) Heater does not work, should have thought to fix that one before winter! Parking brake slips so must be used in conjunction with e-brake Overall the highlights of this car are the mechanics of it and the interior. This is a great carand I am sick to see it go. I would consider trading for an old 4x4 truck. That should be everything about the car let me know if you have anymore questions through email. I love talking about it so ask me anything.
