Description of 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 300TD Wagon Diesel |
Few cars can wear a quarter of a million miles better than a Mercedes-Benz W123. These cars are world renowned for their durability and timeless style. Being the workhorse of the lineup, good examples of the 300TD are few and far between. Find a good one, however, and you'll have class, space and reliability in one package. This is a well maintained and recently painted 300TD Mercedes wagon. This wagon has had the original non-turbo engine replaced recently with a newer turbo engine. The OM617 solid steel engine is known as the million mile engine and there is no reason that this car will not last for a lifetime. As long as there is oil in the engine and she also has coolant, you will be able to own this car for another 30-40 years with minimal maintenance. I will also recommend to you the mechanic that has done most of the maintenance through the years. This is the same make and model that John Lennon bought new and was seen driving around New York with all of his equipment in the back. It has the hydraulic SLS (self leveling suspension) that will allow you to take heavy loads without strain. The transmission has been rebuilt and the car drives smoothly and shifts well. Nothing makes more sense to me than a W123 300TD. In my opinion, it's everything you might ever might need in a vehicle. Durability? This thing will probably outlive most of us. Practicality? You can haul enough bricks in it to finally build that brick pizza oven in the backyard you've always been dreaming about. Frugality? It gets 25 miles per gallon no matter what you do. Comfortable? The horse hair seats will suck you right in with ease. See what people say about this car... Google "the car that will never die" and Bloomberg. You will see a great article about these cars. They seem to be going up in value about 25% a year. To see the current value just go to Haggerty's for a valuation tool. Or see similar cars at Mercedesmotoring dot com.
