Rare 560 SEC convertible conversion in Germany. Of the few of these which were made the ones done correctly were shipped back to Germany for the conversion. We understand the latch mechanism at the windshield is the predecessor of the later model power top SL 500 and E300 and E320 Cabriolets which came out beginning in 1990. The original owner lived in Las Vegas. We purchased the vehicle from his niece after he passed. This has been our project car, but you can see it is very pretty as is. Our mechanic gave it a green light, but there were some cosmetic items we wanted to restore plus little things we are picky about like restoring the original factory radio and being sure the antennae switch worked correctly. The car has low miles. The original factory option "roulette" wheels are in amazing condition, tires are fairly fresh and we located new mercedes seat covers and replaced those as the original ones were somewhat somewhat stained and deteriorated. The family had replaced the cloth top prior to our purchase and it appears to have been painted at some point in its history. The paint is not perfect, but the automobile is a sharp looker and very presentable. The original power top mechanism should be replaced if you want to put the top up and down on a regular basis. Our mechanic had the top working but advised us due to the age, unless we were going to drive the car in inclement weather he would just leave the top down and cover it when stored. So wehad a custom car cover made and keep it covered in our garage. We cannot guarantee the mechanism would work without service as it has not been used for more than 3 years. Depending on the buyer, someone may want to modernize the power top for regular use.The 560 SEC has already begun to appreciate in the last 10 years and this specialmodel is sure to become a true collector car. Its a great cruiser and head turner. And it is very fun to tool around town in this beauty as they are so rare.We are unfortunately out of space and so its time for the next auto buff to take it from here.As with any specialty car that is more than 30 years old there is no warranty. The vehicle is available for buyer inspection if that is desired. Sale will be as-is with shipping arranged and paid for by buyer.
