Description of 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series SILVER W/ BLACK TRIM |
A Texas and Oklahoma car - I'm the fourth owner since 2012. This 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Coupe Turbo-Diesel was purchased new in San Antonio, Tx and was next sold to a military officer in San Antonio. Brought to Choctaw, OK I purchased the car from the third owner - a Mercedes-Benz hobbyist/collector for my son to drive to school/work locally. Upon purchase we installed a new timing chain/tensionor (as a preventive measure), replaced all fluids and filters and adjusted the valves. The car had two non-oem wood console panels installed prior to purchase and a dash cover that showed an apx. 2-inch crack behind right side of instrument cluster that has not progressed (see photo). Aftermarket sealed, the glass seals/rubber are showing their age and should (eventually) be replaced.NOTE:The CarFax I pulled upon purchase showed accident-free (but the age of these cars limits available data.)I've learned from the eBay AutoCheck the car shows an accident with original owner in San Antonio, Tx. No prior body repair work or bondo was reported during a 2018 re-paint, bumpers/side moldings appear original, we've never had any alignment issues and the car was rust free. Oil was changed at regular intervals (3000-3500 miles). All lights, gauges, signals, mirror operate normally. Driver-side rear window is not operating (believedto be switch). After approximately 32k miles with routine maintenance, the car has been recently serviced in preparation for sale and has received: new air cleaner mounts, hose returns, fluids changed (transmission/power steering, oil differential), all filters, valve adjustment, valve cover gasket, A/C was converted to 134a, tested for leaks and charged, shifter-bushings where replaced and a new drag link installed. The tires are new this year with less than 300-miles on them and front brake pads have apx. 4,000 miles on them. Battery was replaced earlier this year as well. Finally - of the more than 2.7 million W123s produced - just over 100k coupes were made - and only 8,007 (aka C123s) were produced from late 1981-1985 - adding to this car's rare/aesthetic appeal.I worked on BMWs, Porsche and Mercedes as a professional mechanic in the 1980's and routinely sawthese W123s come into the shop with 250k-300k plus miles. They are extremely dependable and ride smoothly. All to say - this car has never given us any mechanical issues. She's just a solid car that's enjoyable to drive and with continued regular maintenance- has many good miles ahead. It has a clean Oklahoma title in the seller's name. Happy bidding. |
