Description of 1987 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series

1987 Mercedes-Benz

300TD Touring Wagon

No Reserve auction- this wagon will sell to the highest bidder at the end of the auction!

This is the highly sought after W124 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Turbodiesel Touring Wagon. Only around 1,400 of these were ever imported to the U.S. and it goes without saying that far less are in existence today, especially in similar condition.

Classic tan exterior with palomino interior. a robust turbocharged diesel engine paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. Four wheel power disc brakes with ABS and power steering.

This wagon starts immediately with the turn of the key and doesn’t produce any smoke. The ultra-reliable OM603 3.0L inline six-cylinder turbodiesel engine runs great and displays zero blow-by. The transmission shifts smoothly between all gears. It has recently undergone a comprehensive servicing including a fresh oil and filter change, new fuel filters, coolant flush, new water pump, lower tensioner, idler pulley, belt, damper, belt adjuster, and starter.

This wagon features the very desirable and rare factory rear seat option complete with three-point seatbelts. All of the switches inside of the car function correctly. The vacuum operated door locks all work. All of the power windows go up and down. The wagon is fitted with a more modern Sony radio, but it isn’t connected. The climate control functions properly, and the a/c blows cool. All of thegaugesin the instrument cluster work correctly, except the tachometer and speedometer, which is about 10 mph slow. The ABS light will come on intermittently and the system sometimes engages for a second right before a stop. I had all of the sensors cleaned, but one is probably faulty. The glow plug light doesn’t illuminate, but the glow plugs work correctly and this wagon starts immediately in any weather. The engine runs smoothly, but new motor mounts are likely needed to correct a vibration at idle. This wagon is all original aside from factory European headlights, which don’t accommodate the headlight wiper motors.

Please view the pictures included in the listing and ask any questions that you have. The body is very clean. The factory undercoating is all intact and there is no rust underneath the wagon, including the rocker panels, jack points, wheel wells and door jams. The car smells fresh on the inside and is free from any unpleasant odors. If you have been searching for a clean and well maintained W124 Turbodiesel Wagon, this is it!
