Description of 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series

Im selling my 1984 Mercedes 300d turbodiesel champagne exterior color with MB-Tex tan interior. I bought her from a couple here in dallas about 3 years ago who affectionately named her "goldie" and wept when they saw her leave. I've owned 4 of these w123 mercedes and i feel they still are the most robust. reliable. perfectly packaged vehicles ive ever owned. Ive spent the last 2 and a half years making it reliable. safe and better looking. I have too many cars now and i feel my work is done on this automobile. Someday im sure ill stumble across another w123 and love is just as much as my others ive had. This car was NOT my daily driver. i work only 3 miles from home so i don't put mileage on any of my cars. however i did this last February drive this car on a 2200 mile round trip drive and it performed great and averaged 28. 5 mpg. The car has 249. 87 miles and i bought it when it had 243. 00. Ive taken it on two long trips and had no problems whatsoever. Since my purchase i have spent thousands to make this a reliable daily driver if needed. The engine and transmission are strong and powerful. Very few oil drops. if ever. Zero rust. No scraches or any major dings. New battery and Denso alternator (better than bosch)New front and rear monotube shocks and alignmentNew paint with minor dings in trunk. front fender. eft quarter and passenger door repaired. new pinstripesNew engine and transmission mounts. new drive belts and radiator hoses. new front lower ball joints and shift linkage bushingsNew dashoard cover. new mercedes floor mats. new power window switches$1360 new brake system including all rotors. calipers. ads. hoses. and master cylinderNew fuel return lines on engine. new fuel filters (both of them)New Kenwood CD player. light bulbs in center console replacedNew vacuum check valveNew keys madeAll alloy wheels refinishedOil change and filter performed less than 100 miles agoMore not listedAll of the gauges work. the clock works. all the dashboard lights. the power windows. mirrors and climate control works. Sunroof opens and shuts like new. no leaks. All of the woodgrain is there and in good condition with only some fine cracking but no delamination of the wood. No tears or cracks in the seats. carpet could use a good cleaning under the new floormats however. Central locking system works but is slow (vacuum operated) and shuts off immediately when the doors are locked. but slow if doors are unlocked and you have the blower on. Cruise control has worked for me. but is finicky. id say a small vacuum leak somewhere or maybe the vacuum pump needs a rebuild? The A/C compressor doesn't have a belt on it. but the unit spins freely. Was like that when i bought it and never had it looked at. I rarely use A/C on any of my cars. so it doesn't bother me on a car with a sunroof and a 3 mile commute to work. Tires have over 50% tread remaining and all match and hold air perfectly. I keep it in storage when not driving it and after 5 weeks today the car started right up and all the tires read 38 psi. Usually i keep a trickle charger on all my cars in storage if i don't start them in over 3 weeks. The automatic antenna for some reason is not working with the new stereo i put in. but i bypassed the power source to it and the motor still works. It will extend fully up and down. but not with the radio on. I leave it down since i usually use the CD player anyways and don't want someone walking by and braking it off! The windshield has a small rock chip in the extreme top drivers corner. so the oil change tag hides it nicely. This is a safe. secure and reliable mercedes diesel with plenty of life left in it. It breaks my heart to have to start selling some of my cars. but i cant keep them all! Storage is expensive! If there are any questions please feel free to email me.
