Description of 1970 Mercury Other

Very rare 1970 Cyclone Spoiler. Competion blue with a white interior. The Marti report verifies that this was a 429 SCJ car. It now has a rebuilt 429 CJ motor with less than 100 miles on it. The 4 speed was rebuilt approximately 2. 00 miles ago. The 3. 91 traction lock was rebuilt less than 100 miles ago. The car went through a driver quality restoration approximately 6 years ago by the second owner. The car does have AC which does not show up on the Marti report. The second owner confirmed that the AC dash was in the car when he purchased it. Supposedly you could not get AC with a 429 SCJ and the drag Pak option. I did partially remove the driver side fender to verify the VIN. I will not debate the issue. the car has AC. which may or may not have been factory installed. The second owner can be contacted for additional information. I purchased the car last August through a consignment dealer that mis-represented the car. The last several months I put a lot of money and work into improving the car’s originality and drivability. The 429 CJ came from a 1970 Cyclone GT. It went through a stock rebuild. It has the following corrret CJ parts; spread-bore intake. DOOE-R CJ/SCJ heads. exhaust manifolds. valve covers. DOVE-A block that has 2 bolt mains. oil pan. and chrome dip stick. I used an adapter to run a Holley carburetor and the distributor is electronic. The 4-speed is RUG AU1. which was rebuilt when the car went through the “restoration”. I had the third member rebuilt. It is an N case with a Ford 3. 91 ring and pinion. brand new traction lock unit and all new bearings and seals. The axles are 31 spline and the rear shocks are staggered as they should be in this high performance 4-speed car. The original gear reduction speedometer cable is present as is the reverse lock out rod. The odometer shows 54. 00 miles which the previous owner verified as original miles. The body is very solid. it did have some patch work in the bottoms of the quarter panels that was done well. The paint job is approximately 6 years old. It presents well but is not concours show quality. It is an excellent driver quality job that does have some stone chips that wee touched up as one would expect in a car that was driven. The interior is in excellent shape. The door panels. seats. headliner. and dash are near perfect. The shifter knob and stereo are not original. The chrome bumpers and trim are in excellent shape. All the stainless trim is present and in good shape. I put a set of original wheels on the car with new tires. I also replaced the reproduction ram air assembly with an original Ford. all steel. ram air assembly. The car also has all new gas shocks. all new power steering lines. all new brake pads and linings. new sway bar end links. fresh gear lube in the transmission and third member. I also installed a new H pipe. The rest of the exhaust system is like new. The hide-away headlights function properly but only stay down about an hour after the car is turned off. I installed a new gauge feed wiring harness. The in-dash tach. oil pressure. and water temp gauges are working. This Cyclone runs awesome. Straight line acceleration is very impressive. This is and excellent example of a driver quality 1970 Cyclone Spoiler that can be driven and enjoyed. My interests have changed. I need to sell the car to start my own business. Thanks for looking.
