Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purcahse. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to check out each of the 60+ photos and read this entire written description, as well as our Terms & Conditions, carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 1985 Mercury Cougar LS with the optional 5.0L V8 engine. I would rate the exterior of this Cougar to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. Please keep in mind that this is a 32 year old car. It is finished in white over red. The white exterior shows well for its age but is not perfect. You can see some faded spots and she is probably overdue for a coat of wax. If you look closely, you can see a few pit marks in the finish where surfact rust is visible. On the whole, whe looks decent. The body lines are nice and stragiht. The hood, doors and trunk all open and close easily. All of the trim is present and shows well. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The factory wire wheel covers are all still present. The tires show good tread all around. Please, please take your time and check out each of the photos closely. There is a fair amount of petina to be found on this old Cougar. It is far from a museum piece, but not a terrible. I will note that the odometer on this Cougar reads 18k miles. It is a digital odometer so I don't know if they can "roll over" like the old five digit analog odometers. The title I have shows 15k miles and mileage reads ACTUAL MILES. I cannot claim that this car has 18k original miles because I don't know its history first hand. What I can tell you is that most of what I see on the exterior looks like age more than miles...and the interior speaks for itself. You be the judge... I would rate the interior of this Cougar to be in WELL ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age. The door cards are clean and tight. The carpets are thick and full looking throughout the interior. The dash and headliner are clean, too. The seats are comfortable and show virtually no wear. What is most noteworthy is that EVERYTHING works. The power windows, power locks, power mirrors and power seats all work. The original radio works and sounds good. The climate control system also appears to be working properly. The heater works well. The air conditioner does not blow cold air, but you can't fault a 30+ year old car for that. The trunk is spacious and clean, too. Everything looks exactly as it would have in the 80's. Mechanically, this Cougar appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 5.0L V8 starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine does not smoke. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. Steering and braking feel good, too. The engine keeps perfect temperature and feels strong. There have been no idiot lights on. She hits the road as straight as an arrow. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly with zero issues. The only thing I can find that doesn't work is the gas gauge. Again, hard to fault a 30+ year old car for that. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with absolutely no complaints. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
