GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1949 Mercury for your consideration. Finished in metallic black paint and cloth black interior along with a custom steering wheel. Under the hood is a small block Chevy 350ci V8 with a 4 barrel carb with a 700-r4 overdrive automatic transmission. Equipped with most factory options but has some tasteful aftermarket modifications like; 12v electrical system, shaved hood, trunk and door handles, lowered 6 inches, custom interior and sound system. Being lowered... this '49 looks very sleek and brings out the time appropriate era. Please call or email us today for more information on this vehicle. The first postwar Mercury was introduced in the 1949 model year. The engine was a flathead V8 that produced slightly more power than the then also newly designed 1949 Ford. A new overdrive system was optional, activated by a handle under the dash. The styling of the Mercury Eight, when it was released in 1949, adopted the "ponton" appearance, and was successful in both ending the monotony of warmed-over pre-war style, and differentiating Mercury from its comparable Ford cousin, a trick that spelled sales success. Sales figures for both Ford and Mercury broke records in 1949. To see over 80 photos of the car, including under carriage please visit our website br/-
