Description of 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente |
This 1964 Comet Caliente convertible is a rather large project. but has a great deal of potential due to the large amount original parts included in the sale. We’re hoping someone will be inspired to return it to the road. These are really great looking cars. We’ve owned this car since the early 1980’s. but very little has happened during the years since. It has been in dry storage during that time. though. It was originally white with a black top. so all the blue panels seen are original replacements from a car found in junkyard many years ago. A complete. rust free. passenger side quarter panel is included. and so is a rust free partial for the driver’s side. Both are lying inside the car and can be seen in the photos. The car will basically be completely rebodied at the point. but that will also take care of the majority of the rust. The hood and the decklid are rust free and very straight. The rocker panels will a little of work. The floors are mostly solid. and the convertible top pump and frame were functional when last tried years ago. There are multiple instrument clusters and grilles included. as well as most of the Caliente trim. The interior is mostly missing. but the seats are included. They will need complete restoration. A surprising amount of reproduction parts are available for these cars now. so don’t be concerned over finding missing items. I recommend www. DearbornClassics. com and www. AutoKrafters. com It was originally a 260ci V8 with a C4 automatic transmission. We do have the original engine. and possibly the transmission. available separately if the winning bidder is interested. It has a clean Florida title and shows no signs of wrecks in the past. If you not seen a restored one before. I suggest Googling “1964 Comet Caliente convertible. It’s easy to see yourself cruising on a sunny to the beach in one. PLEASE NOTE: This car is in storage in the Pensacola. Florida area. It is available for viewing by appointment. It is sold as-is. where it is. with no warranties expressed or implied. It must be picked up within 7 days of the auction end unless other plans are made between myself and the winning bidder. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction close. full amount due at time of pick-up. If the winning bidder wishes to ship the car. full amount is still due within 7 days of auction regardless of pick-up date from the shipping company. |
