Description of 1979 Mercury Capri

The first thing that you think when you see this car is that there were no American convertibles made in 1979. How is this possible? Well, the folks at Lincoln-Mercury decided that they would allow less than 500 of the Capri output to be made into convertibles. Quite simply, you purchased a hatchback Capri at your dealer. In turn, the dealer would send it to a Mercury-authorized coach builder to be turned into a convertible. The cost was $8,000 over that of the car.
This car has been in our family since 1979. It runs well, as the 5.0 Liter engine was recently rebuilt. It has new wheels and tires as well as brake lines. The custom-cut windshield has also been replaced. As the pictures show, it still needs body and interior work to restore its beauty. It also needs a replacement top due to a hail storm.
Yes, it is a project but if you are a "car guy", you will want to restore this piece of American car history. It is unlikely that you will find another like it on the road. Pictures show item you will receive.
