Description of 1953 MG T-Series Midget |
This gorgeous MG TD was originally a very low miles, rizona car which was totally rust free and clean. It has recently undergone a 3 year, rame off nuts and bolts restoration. The cost of such a restoration can well exceed $40,000. Literally no expense spared. Each and every component of the automobile was either professionally rebuilt and or replaced with new. The original engine and transmission since they were in excellent original condition did not require rebuild and were inspected and serviced before reinstalling. The body was rust free to begin with but taken down to bare metal and painted professionally with 4 coats of paint to give a flawless, how quality mirror like finish. Special attention has been paid towards the finer details whereby each and every component, nside and outside of the car, as been matched to the color change. The interior is genuine leather and the seats and panels are impeccably upholstered to the highest standard. All the gauges are original. The chrome is mostly original metal re chromed to perfection. Every chrome trim piece is perfect. Nearly 30,000 TD's were produced from 1950-1953. An example tested by The Motor magazine in 1952 had a top speed of 77 mph (124 km/h) and could accelerate from 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 18.2 seconds. A fuel consumption of 26.7 miles per imperialgallon was recorded. |
