Description of 1973 MG MGB GT |
73 MGB GT w/overdrive, 4 cylinder with twin SU Carbs, comes with a high pedigree; I purchased it in Washington State from a private collection. It was owned for 35 yrs by the designer of Boeing Aircraft. He had the top end rebuilt and partially ported to bring up the compression as the one's exported came with lower compression than in the UK. At the same time, the overdrive was rebuilt along with the clutch and transmission. The overdrive works on 3rd and 4th gears giving you 6 ratios. After I shipped her here I had the carbs rebuilt, added a new gas tank, and changed to electronic distributor using Pertronics (no more points to change!) which improved reliability. It runs like a swiss watch and has been my daily for over 2 years. I also imported from the UK stainless steel racing headers and big bore exhaust so she could breath better giving her a beautiful resonate sound. Also has: -New Pirelli P4 tires. -Slotted rotors. -New springs and shocks. -Raydot racing mirrors. -Refurbished interior (new carpet and seats redone to factory spec) -Sebring headlight covers (same model won the 12 hrs of Sebring in 1967) The car was undercoated from the factory and has no leaks. It has been repainted and shows excellent. It has minor imperfections that can't be seen in the pictures. Overall I would give the paint an 8 out of 10. Everything works as it should. I've included some pics of the floors to show there is no rust. NADA book values- average $14,650, high $24,100 I had a TR250 when I was 20 and have had vintage cars all my life. It will be bitter-sweet to sell this....hoping it goes to a good home. Along with Triumphs, Austin Healeys, TVR's, Jags, and Tigers....these MGB GT's are increasing in value as I write this. It would be an investment, not just another car as they aren't making anymore of these. This is a turn key car...needs nothing. I have tried to describe this vehicle as accurately and honestly as possible but please remember it is a used vehicle. As with any vehicle, (new or used) there may be issues that I have overlooked or am unaware of.
