Description of 1971 MG MGB |
This has been stored since the late 80s. Motor is free though. I cant say it is complete, but close. I have not tried to put gas or a battery to it yet, so i know nothing about the motors condition besides it is NOT stuck. There are lots of good parts, so i will list it as such. If it doesnt get the opening bid, i will part it out. Actually, maybe not, it is growing on me and i kinda want to spend a day on it and run it through the gears a few times. The story is it was driven into the garage for the winter where it was going to receive some love on the front corner and install the new heater fan. Life happened, and there it sat. Drivetrain is there, motor, carbs, tranny, all of it from radiator to tailpipe, (which happens to be sagging). Gauge says about 74k. Sitting in it, no brake or clutch pressure. We pulled one wheel before moving it, splines were good. 5 spoker wheels are straight, have paint loss and surface rust. Tires are dry, but hold air. Body has rust bubbles under paint on rockers, one door and coming through drivers rear quarter. Trunk floor and battery box are great. I didnt pull carpet to see the whole floor, but it is solid where ever i pounded and peeked under carpet edges. Drivers front headlight area was hit once, and has poor bodywork done. It looks rusted at first glance, but when you look closer, the body man ripped and made jagged edges trying to push the headlight bucket out. Trunk lid good, hood has a few hail size dents from stuff being stored on top of it. I dont know what the blue steel bar and bolt in the trunk is about, i didnt get under it, but it is about where the muffle is hanging, so i am guessing it was something to do with being an exhaust hanger. Trim is missing trunk mg badge, left front fender, a.couple top clips, one tonneau hook, i think thats it. Windshield glass is bad, trim is good. Luggage rack. Front bumper bar has a slight tweak. Interior is not great, but not the worst around. Dash and seat tops are cracked. Top door pads are good, panels have slight marks. Rubber part missing on window cranks. Gauges seem good. Panasonic radio. Good gearshift knob. Heater fan is out, but the person i got it from said that the one on the floor is the new one, it just never got installed. There are no keys to this thing, and i didnt want to tear it up, so wheel is locked. Top is trashed, frame is good. In the trunk there was the top boot, tonneau and bars, an old bag, a newer bag, i think battery area covers, repair manual, spare tire and holder, tire wrench and floor mats. Again, no keys, so steering is locked. Wheels are straight though, so it can be loaded. 500 within 24 hours, the balance within 7 days. Car can stay for a little bit if needed, just call so we can work it out. I will gladly answer any questions you might have, thanks. |
