Description of 1958 MG MGA Coupe

I bought this car as a complete project, it had previously had a V6 engine installed which had required some inner fender and transmission tunnel modifications. There had been front-end damage "fixed" with the Cobra style snout, and the fender to body seams were braised over. It had been sitting without a drive train for many years.
I decided the best I could do, within reason financially, was to do some minor frame welding and go back to near-original motor mount location. I found a '75 Austin Marina with the 1800 MGB engine and Borg Warner B35 3-speed auto transmission (transmission was rebuilt). The auto tranny fit the already widened tunnel. The frame was painted with Rust Bullet and the body was painted with a metallic blue, with vinyl racing stripe. The tires were replaced and there are about 2000 miles since the car's re-birth. I have a blog of the work done at: https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=124391351745995576#allposts/src=sidebar
The result is a fun to drive car, not fast. The paint/body work is solid but not a high quality paint job. The car shifts appropriately at about 20 mph and 41 mph, though the kick down cable needs to be replaced. The interior is good except the drivers seat has a tear in the lower cover. Given the starting point, I have been happy with the car.

To see the in progress photos of the car copy and paste the above address or google "Our orphan MGA coupe". Lots of pictures and some philosophy there. Thanks for looking.
