Description of 1988 Mitsubishi Galant SIGMA

About this vehicleThis 1988 Mitsubishi Galant is an original. The owner has had it for 4 years. The vehicle is drivable and is mainly used for weekend drives.Seller's NotesThis is a beautiful 1988 Mitsubishi Galant Sigma. Redesigned subtly but very completely for 1988, the Galant became the Galant Sigma and the flagship of the Mitsubishi lexicon. The C-pillar treatment was completely updated after 1987, as was the nose, which is longer and slimmer to accommodate the V6 engine, wheretofore Galants had been 4 cylinder only. If you're particular, or particularly verbose, this car is known as the Galant Sigma Eterna.
The 3.0L SOHC V6 is very smooth, runs great, makes 141 horsepower and 160 lb./ft. torque. The car is very fleet of foot; power delivery is quick and smoothly transmitted through the 4-speed ELC automatic transmission, which shifts responsively. All fluids have been routinely maintained and changed as necessary. The oil is fresh and clean, as is the coolant, etc.
The car runs great. Starts and settles into a nice smooth idle without hesitation.
I've owned the car since June 30, 2016, at which time she had about 106,900 miles. In the roughly 22k miles since, here's what's been done, in no particular order:
Spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, front brakes and hoses, serpentine belt, water pump, timing belt, fuel pump, front struts and mounts, tires, muffler and tailpipe, PCV valve, air filter, steering rack, etc.
The interior is nearly perfect. It looks great and smells fresh and new.
After 4 years, it's time for tires again, also an alignment. The new steering rack went in late last year right before storage (the car is amazingly super clean and not driven in winter, and the car has not been realigned or driven much since). Recently, the fuel sending unit has developed a drip that only crops up when the engine is running. While the car runs and drives no sweat, you'll want to trailer this because that's just good sense when you're dealing with a fuel leak. The beautiful instrument panel lights work capriciously.
I've got some parts I've stockpiled over the years; brakes, struts, A/C compressor, etc. that I'll include at no extra charge.
Reason for selling: Simple. I have 4 other cars from the '80s and '90s, and while I love this car, I just need to simplify. I'd love to make it perfect, but I've got other items also vying for my attention.
This is a gorgeous unicorn of a vehicle from a great era. Call it a Japanese Audi 5000 if you've got the brass. All the power windows and locks work, the glass is great, the trim is lovely, the cassette deck plays great, the power antenna works beautifully, etc. Car and Driver once likened the taillights to that of the Trans Am of the same timeframe...I can see it. Still amuses me. I'll miss driving and staring at this car. To my eye, it's beautiful. Hopefully you see in it what I do, and can love and enjoy her as I have.
