1956 Nash Metropolitan 2 dr Hardtop We just sold a 1960 Nash, this one is very similar to the other one, and in a few ways I believe nicer. Older model, original color with 1 repaint. Same owner again for the last 35 plus yrs. We suggest viewing our auction on normal large monitors and or tablet to get the most out of our large easy to view pics. These cars are FUN ! Unique ~! and getting more rare all the time! easily pushing their values up every yr and make great investments. At any car show or trip to the store, they draw a crowd from all ages for so many awesome reasons ! Pretty sure PeeWee Herman drove 1 in his first movie too. BRIEF DESCRIPTION: 1956 Nash Metropolitan - its been in the desert area (Arizona) as far back as we can track. Minimal rust if any on the car. For a car this old almost unheard of around most of the country (Not here in Tucson)The previous owner had restored it many yrs ago, but now hewas getting too old to work on it, it started needing work to the brake system, rubber lines etc, so it was parked inside a metal barn here in Tucson. The car has had 1 repaint of the original color combo to our knowledge about 20 yrs ago. Chrome is in decent shape for its age.Stainless in very good shape. The car did get a partial resto over the yrs, including some interior, things under the hood as needed. The floors, rockers, trunk etc are very solid and original. It looks great in person and the pics, and it is. Its just not finished but was dont nice enough at the time to be a driver back in 2012. The only rust we could find was the pass side front floorboard has a hole, from the inside out. Its about the size of my fist. DONT BID UNLESS YOU HAVE THE FUNDS IN HAND, apparently some people who use ebay arent smart enough to understand the rules. So if you have under 10 feedbacks, Ill be emailing you if you bid to make sure you are legit, if we do please reply or we will cancel your bid. Up for Auction: LOW FAIR RESERVE !!! These cars are getting harder to find esp in this condition that are still affordable to most buyers.
DRIVETRAIN: the last owner drove it from time to time but again, it started to need some work to the brakes, which is why it was parked. We put in a battery, cleaned the points, poured a little gas down the carb, cranked it a few times and it fired right up and ran for about 15 seconds fine. Seems like the fuel pump is bad. My guess is new master and rubber lines for starters. We put a battery in it, cranked it a few times and it fired right up ! Runs and sounds good too. Ive not driven it because I need to bleed the clutch system.. Transmission and clutch are fine. Fix the brakes some and its on the way to being a daily driver again Or car show fun. Would be a safe bet to flush the whole brake system while doing the new rubber parts of course when you do it.
INTERIOR: take a look at the pics, the interior looks very nice for a daily. Its not fully restored, and needs some finishing, things like missing weatherstrippinginstalled around the doors etc. carpet maybe, tighten up the door panels etc.Factory AM radio I think still works, but the speaker I believe is bad now. It is a great start and Wouldnt take much to be truly finished.Dont think the cars ever seen salt or snow. Dash and chrome in very nice shape for their age. All the glass is good too. 1956 had some cool features the newer models didnt have. EXTERIOR:the body pretty straight for its age, and paint about 20 yrs old, but its been in a garage most of its life. Bumpers are in really nice shape as is most all the bright work around the car. The body itself is in really nice shape for its age too, and to our knowledge and past owners the cars never been in any bad accidents. Super solid rockers, quarters etc. Check out the pics. Stainless trim looks very complete and in amazing shape. Nothing major. Overall the body is in very nice shape we think. It gets alot of attention just as is. With some attention to the paint, it could look even more amazing. SUSPENSION:the suspension looks normal from what I can see .. but older. Works okay as is, but Im sure will need minor repairs in time due to its age. Nothing major to report being broken or worn out. Tires are in nice shape, they are about 10 yrs old or so, but for in town driving probably fine. These cars ride very smooth for their size and age and handle pretty well due to their size etc. Mostly just suface rust under the car, making taking this car apart, almost a breeze !! Check out ALL the pics below ----->
it may take a full minute for them all to load ifyou have a slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra scroll bar on the right side. Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate. more infoAFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics.
There you have it, probably The BEST represented NASH's on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate them. We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows. People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end. Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these days speaks volumes. Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers.
