Description of 1972 Oldsmobile Other |
1972 Delta 88 Royale Convertible "Ruthie Marie" in pretty good condition. "Ruthie Marie" has been in our family since she was ordered from the factory in '72 by my late aunt who drove Oldsmobile convertibles all of her life. My aunt was a unique individual and lived a somewhat glamorous life and had worked as a model and an actress in the Los Angeles area in the 40's and 50's. She was crowned the National Rodeo Queen, orked with Will Rogers during the 1940's, as crowned Miss Southern California Contour and was a runner-up in the Miss Southern California Brownett Contest. She was a model featured on many magazine covers andcalendars, nd was a dancer at the Copacabana in New York with the "Rat Pack". She was a model on the television show "Queen For The Day", ndwas a debut host for the "Penny Wise Show" in Kansas City. The car has 130,000+ miles on her and has been a daily driver since 1972. She's in very restorable condition with a few wear spots in the interior on the driver's seat, here there's a duct tape patch, nd some carpet wear on the same side. There's a small amount of rust that could easily be taken care of in the typical fender well places but the body is in pretty decent condition with only minor dings etc. The electric motor still works for the top (though the top itself needs replaced - see below), ll of the windows work fine and the electric seat adjustments work as well. Even her old original radio still works. She purrs like a kitten and handles nicely on the highway powered by the 350 Rocket engine under her hood. I have recently replaced her radiator, hermostat, oses, nd belts along with her alternator. I put new whitewall tries on her (try finding those these days!) and new brakes, heel cylinders, nd a master cylinder about a year ago. She does need a little work on her top and has a brand new convertible top with a glass back window that has yet to be installed which is included in the sale. If I have that top installed the price will go up. All in all, he's a wonderful car for the price and a great joy to drive. She's not in perfect condition but then again I'm not asking $14,000 for her either. "Ruthie Marie" is a head turner wherever she goes and someone never fails to comment on her every single time we're driving. She's brought our family much happiness over the years and a particular joy to me personally. Life has a way of taking us down different paths and exacts different demands and so now she must go to a good new home. If you've ever longed for a car of this caliber, tyle, nd class you won't find one in this kind of condition for this kind of price. Thank you for looking.
