Description of 1975 Oldsmobile Cutlass HURST OLDS |
I have decided to put my baby up for sale. Here is a 1975 Hurst/Olds with its original, numbers matching engine and transmission. I bought her in 2011. The previous title was from 1989. She is white with a black landau top. The previous top came with the car, and looked to be original graining. During my ownership, a lot of work was done to bring the car to its current condition. The tail lights were replaced with NOS lenses, as were all 4 of the side lights. The headlight bezels were replaced with excellent units. An NOS gas filler piece was used, and the grilles were restored, with Excellent parking light lenses. NOS mirrors were installed as well. All stainless was polished before reinstallation. The interior upholstery was replaced with NOS material, in the original pattern. The carpet replaced and all the vinyl was detailed. I added the tilt column (no slop, but the turn indicator does not have that snap to it), factory gauges as well as the 8-track player. It is cosmetic only as A new Kenwood unit is installed in the glove box. A Rockford Fosgate Punch 400 watt 4 channel amplifier is hooked up to the rear 6X9's in the factory location, while 2 channels are hooked to a dual voice coil 12" woofer mounted into a box on the side of the trunk. No holes were made in the car to do this! The car has its original spare tire in perfect condition. The car has A/C, but I have never tried to use it. It likely needs a recharge and work. The body was block sanded and painted this year. Prior to painting, the body was taken down as much as possible. There was no rust on the body, metal patch had been welded in along the lower vinyl top trim and at the lower quarter panels. The top was removed, as well as the t-top assemblies without damaging the original weatherstrips. All brightwork was removed as well. On reassembly, special attention was made to making sure the tops did not leak like these are known for. At least 3 coats of clear were applied and then car was lightly wet sanded and then polished. New stripes were installed afterwards. Additional sanding and polishing would make this car sparkle. The drive train is original to the car. The Transmission was rebuilt in 2011, and other than detailing the engine and replacing the carb, it is a beautifully running car. I have driven her to the Hurst/Olds meet in 2012 in Pennsylvania, To Orlando in 2013 and just took her to the meet in Kingsport Tennessee with zero issues. She cruises at 80 MPH all day with about 17 MPG. Usually she cruises at 190, the hottest I've ever seen her get is 200 degrees. A dual exhaust crossmember was added to the car, so it is true duals now. Approximately 2,500 of these cars were built, half being white or black (1 of 1250), and about half of each being W-25 350 cars, or W-30 455 cars (1 of 625). Of the white cars, you could get the interior accented with either the standard black compati-color, or you could get in increasing rarity, red, saddle, blue or green. It seems that a saddle car such as this one is might have been in 10-20% of the production run. If you are in the mood to play the numbers game, that makes this car one of about 125. God only knows how many are really left out there. The beauty of the saddle interior is that it ties in so well with the gold stripes. The tires shown in the pictures are not what will come with the car. The correct rims were swapped out with my other car for the long drive. The correct rims have Radial T/A's that have good tread, but are over 10 years old, and I did not want to take them on a 1,600 mile round trip drive. As nice as this car is there are a couple things that were still on my to do list. The drivers door has rust on the inside lower edge along the length of the door. I have a door shell with a good inside edge, but a small rust spot on the lower front if you'd like. The perforated vinyl headliner should be replaced, or at least re-glued behind the drivers t-top. Yesterday, I had something fall against the drivers quarter panel and give me that scratch. I am going to see what can be done about that. The windshield has a star chip in it. I can replace it under my insurance or you can get it done. I am giving you the option. Please ask any questions you may have, and I will do my best to answer them. Selling locally as well, so I may cancel at any time. $500 deposit by cashiers check due within 3 days of auction end. The balance within 1 week, also by cashiers check. Car is where is- as is. I will gladly do all I can to assist in helping you get your car home. Whether that is arranging with a shipper, or picking you up at the airport. I am continuing to work on the car, so improvements will be on the finished product.More pictures1975 Hurst Olds. |
