Description of 1970 Oldsmobile 442 Base Hardtop 2-Door |
Rare unrestored original 442. I bought this car in 2014 and paid $33,500.00 after tense negotiation and a trade in of my 1971 Barracuda project car. I traded in the Barracuda project car because the dealer convinced me rebuilding one would cost me $50,000-$75,000 easily and take over a year. He was telling the truth... So he took my project car on trade and sold me this amazing car. The 442 came with after market wheels and 5 original wheels. Since then, I repaired the AC and replaced shocks, springs, and tuned it up at Alamo Speed shop. The car runs great, cold AC, very reliable but to be honest, I do want to restore a car so I can get exactly what I want. I wish I did not trade in my Barracuda. The 442 is not exactly my style but its amazing. This car is so beautiful and completely original. I would be irresponsible modifying it in any way. The speed shop tried to get me to replace the points with a CPU ignition system. I said no way. Keep it 100% original. I planned to remove the aftermarket stereo (too busy to take it in) and there are a few items that need repair like the high beam floor selector (very minor) but at this point, I realize that I want a restomod car with crazy horsepower and technology. This historic and 100% correct car is too nice to do that to it plus it would lower the value. So I'm selling this one and making my exact dream car from scratch. I don't need to sell it but for the right buyer I will part ways with the car. This one is a survivor and only the paint has been redone. Its the original special order color Nugget Gold. I don't prefer gold but this Gold is very very appealing and this car gets more attention than a Ferrari and any number of cars I have driven before. Its a superstar on its own. Here is a list of the options that came from the factor on this one. I have the protecto plate, build sheet, and more provenance for you to review. In addition, I'm giving you a spoiler (original mold replica of the factory wing), and a bunch of small things like NOS items, original starter, 5 original wheels, and 4 aftermarket wheels, and a bunch more.
