The factory correct (Code 75) Matador Red paint w/ black hood stripes is simply as nice as it gets, w/ a deep mirror-like shine that appears to be a mile deep. There are no scratches, chips or blemishes to be found anywhere, and all of the chrome & stainless steel trim is in show quality condition throughout. She sits on original Super Stock II wheels wrapped w/ Firestone Wide-Oval RWL tires, just like she did 47 years ago. The beautifully restored trunk area is 100% complete & factory correct w/ OEM trunk mat, Super Stock II spare wheel wrapped w/ correct Firestone Wide Oval spare tire and jack assembly. Underneath you will find the same attention to detail present on the top side. From the satin black floor pans, to the suspension components, to the NOS grey spiral shocks, every piece shows beautifully & factory correct from front to back (please look closely at the undercarriage photos to see how much attention went into this no-expense spared restoration). Open the driver’s door and you will find an absolutely perfect (Code 940) black vinyl bench seat interior that is factory correct & 100% bone stock in appearance. All of the original gauges, lights, blinkers, AM radio, clock, etc., are in perfect working condition w/ absolutely no issues whatsoever. It is certainly a great feeling to sit inside this perfect Olds A-body muscle car w/ your right hand firmly gripping that big Hurst shifter, looking out over those huge hood scoops. Pop open the hood and nestled inside the beautifully detailed engine bay you will find the original numbers matching 350/325hp W31 motor painted in the correct gold hue w/ casting number 395558 and partial VIN stamp (30M291452) under the driver side head. All of the W31 specific components on this motor are 100% correct throughout, including the original cast-iron #6 cylinder heads, 308 camshaft, original performance calibrated Rochester Quadrajet 750 cfm carburetor sitting atop the original aluminum Winters intake manifold, six-blade fan w/ fan clutch, etc. The original numbers matching engine is linked the original numbers matching Muncie M20 4-Speed transmission w/ Muncie stamp (P0B25A) and partial VIN stamp (30M291452), which feeds power to the factory original 3.42 anti-spin rear end. The entire drivetrain was completely rebuilt to factory specifications during the nut & bolt restoration, with no aftermarket performance modifications whatsoever. She fires up instantly settling into a nice smooth idle, and she runs, drives & performs beautifully in every way. The Gardner dual exhaust system sounds deep & mean just the way you would expect it to. These Olds W31 small-block motors are surprisingly fast and were very popular w/ the drag racing crowd of that era. They also handle better than their big-block counterparts w/ much better weight distribution. The factory power steering & manual front disc brakes allows driving around town to be effortless, and when you get her out on the freeway she tracks straight & true, even w/ the factory correct Firestone Wide-Oval tires.
